Men's Bracketology: 2025 NCAA Tournament

The earliest start to a college basketball season is upon us, with a full slate of games. Here at Bracketology HQ, we'll be tracking every result from Nov. 4 until April 7, ranking and reranking what will eventually comprise the NCAA tournament's field of 68. This edition includes all opening night results, and we'll update the bracket every Tuesday for the remainder of November and December before moving to twice-weekly updates when conference play picks up in January.

Bracket Watch

While many were sleeping, Gonzaga posted opening night's biggest win with a lopsided victory over Baylor. The Bulldogs may not have fully avenged their loss to the Bears in the 2021 national championship game, but they reminded us that hopes for an NCAA title in 2025 are very much alive in Spokane. It stands to reason, at least at some point, that the Zags will break through and finally win on a Monday night in April. Under Mark Few, they have twice reached the NCAA final and five regional championship games (plus another under Don Monson). Their nine straight Sweet 16 appearances and 25 straight NCAA bids are first and second, respectively, in Division I. If this were golf, we'd call Gonzaga the "best player never to win a major." One day into a new season, the Bulldogs are back on the top seed line of a bracket projection. In other words, things are normal for one of America's most consistent programs.
