The American-Canadian Critics Choice Association is putting down their popcorn.
Indeed, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards film nominations were announced Dec. 12. and the categories are stacked with the most pop-u-lar titles that have had movie-lovers flocking to the theaters ahead of the event on Sunday, Jan. 12 on E!.
Wicked and Conclave are both defying gravity, taking the lead for most nominations with 11 nods each, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Acting Ensemble. And it seems pink does indeed go good with green, with Cynthia Erivo recognized for Best Actress and Ariana Grande for Best Supporting actress—while on the Conclave front, Ralph Fiennes nabbed the Best Actor nomination.
For the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards—hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler for the third consecutive year—competition is certainly stiff. Dune: Part Two and Emilia Pérez followed the frontrunners closely with 10 nominations each—both contributing to the Best Picture category, along with other titles A Complete Unknown, Anora, The Brutalist, Nickel Boys, Sing Sing and The Substance.
But it wasn’t Timothée Chalamet’s time on the desert planet Arrakis that earned him a nomination for Best Actor, but rather his depiction of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. And Selena Gomez naturally boasted her musical abilities with a Best Song nomination for “Mi Camino,” which featured in her musical comedy thriller Emilia Pérez.
Other notable mentions include Anora and The Substance, with seven nods each. Mikey Madison earned her first Critics Choice nomination in the Best Actress category for her thought-provoking performance as a young sex worker from Brooklyn. And her Russian costar Yura Borisov celebrated the same accomplishment for Best Supporting Actor.
And the Critics Choice Association previously revealed its television nominees on Dec. 5, with the most binge-worthy shows stacking each category. FX’s Shogun led the pack with six nominations, with Abbot Elementar, Disclaimer, Hacks, The Diplomat, The Penguin and What We Do in the Shadows all earning four nominations each.
Now, keep reading to see all of the films nominated at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards…
