Jack the Beagle / Shih Tzu mix breed dog (Bea-Tzu) at 6½ months old
The Bea-Tzu is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Beagle and the Shih-Tzu. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
"This is Mackey, who is a mix between a Beagle and a Shih-Tzu—a Bea-Tzu or a Sheagle (this is what he was called at Petland where I bought him). He is 1 ½ years old in this picture. He loves his carrots and a good howl every now and then. He is a cuddler and the sweetest dog I have ever owned."
