The Wicked movies have rounded out their star studded cast by adding three more actors onto their rosters, and this time it is Bronwyn James of Silent Witness, Bowen Yang of Saturday Night Live and Fire Island, and Marissa Bode.
According to Deadline, Bode is set to play Elphaba’s sister Nessarose, who will be depicted as a wheelchair user – something Bode does in real life. Yang and James will play Pfannee and ShenShen, respectively, who are classmates of Elphaba and Glinda at Shiz.
Also joining them are Keala Settle, Aaron Teoh and Colin Michael Carmichael, who will play Miss Coddle, Avaric and Nikidik respectively.

These actors join an already packed cast of heavyweights that includes pop icon Ariana Grande as the Good Witch Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as The Wicked Witch of the West Elphaba and Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey as the handsome Fiyero (who plays a key part in a love triangle between the two main protagonists).
We’re not done yet, as Shang Chi and Everything Everywhere All At Once star Michelle Yeoh joins the cast as Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Crage Hall at Shiz University where Glinda and Elphaba meet. Jeff Golblum is playing The Wizard and Ethan Slater is Boq.
The film is being directed by Jon M. Chu and is scheduled to release in theatres in two parts, with the first part arriving on Christmas Eve 2024 and the second one following exactly a year after on Christmas Eve 2025.

The prequel to The Wizard of Oz focuses on the unlikely friendship between Glinda and Elphaba right before Dorothy's arrival in Oz, also showing how the Wicked Witch of the West came to be.
As for the decision to split the adaptation into two parts, Chu previously said: "As we prepared the production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of Wicked into a single film without doing some real damage to it."
Wicked will hit theatres worldwide on December 25, 2024, and December 25, 2025.
