Dentsu Aegis Network named TrustLaw’s Legal Team of the Year

Dentsu Aegis Network is delighted to be named ‘In-house Legal Team of the Year’ 2019 by TrustLaw, a Thomson Reuters Foundation initiative which celebrates groundbreaking pro bono work undertaken by legal teams on behalf of NGOs and social enterprises around the world.

Dentsu Aegis Network’s Legal & Compliance team has worked to build a skills-based volunteering programme that helps to bridge the justice divide and tackle UN Sustainable Development Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.  The programme supports Dentsu Aegis Network’s global Social Impact strategy and partnership with Common Ground to drive delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Dentsu Aegis Network has collaborated across multiple markets to build a diverse platform of partners, creating opportunities to positively impact over 60 TrustLaw charities since 2018. Overall the TrustLaw network has facilitated over $38million of pro bono projects in the last 12 months.

Over the past year the team has donated their time and talent to helping vulnerable members of certain communities, especially women and girls, with access to education, work training and justice. Sample projects and organisations helped through the programme include:

  • GirlCode, educating girls in South Africa on computer coding skills
  • Asociacion Chefugee, helping refugees integrate into society in Spain
  • Justice and Care UK, helping victims of slavery and human trafficking
  • Refugee Women Connect (formerly MRANG - Merseyside Refugee & Asylum Seekers Pre & Postnatal Support Group), helping female refugees
  • Standard Microgrid, a project bringing solar power to remote areas of Africa

Simon Zinger, Group General Counsel, Dentsu Aegis Network commented: “We have worked globally to provide our legal expertise to charities across the world. This award means so much to our team and is a testament to our collaboration and shared belief in the healing and transformative power of pro bono.”
