SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -The Champions Tour’s all-time winningest player with 46 victories is back for the 6th time in 7 years of the Sanford International.

Bernhard Langer just missed making it 47 with a sudden death loss on Sunday.

At age 67 and coming off Achilles surgery, what he continues to do is amazing. But it’s clear, his love for competition is still burning which is very inspiring to me since I’m even older.

Bernhard Langer says, “I think everybody out here loves competition because if you don’t you wouldn’t still be here. It’s as simple as that. Those people who don’t embrace competition or perform under stress, they don’t last on tour. So I think everybody out here looks forward to being in contention and looks forward to maybe having that winning putt. Or see his name on the leaderboard and try to climb up to the very top.”

Langer, who’s the best ever on the Champions Tour (Hale Irwin has 45 wins), will get stiff competition from players like Ernie Els and Steve Stricker who’s had great success here in Sioux Falls.

The Sanford International starts Friday and runs through Sunday at about 5:00 at Minnehaha Country Club.
