SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -Dakota Bowl I was in 1978 when the O’Gorman Knights played Fargo Shanley in my first fall of covering high school football here.

It used to be played at Howard Wood Field, but has since moved to The Mac.

And for the seniors on this years team, they couldn’t be more excited for a way to start their final season in front of such a big crowd against top-ranked Harrisburg. It’s something they’ve looked forward to since they were little guys.

Sully Schlimgen, OG Senior says, “Yes I think just all the people that come to the campus at O’Gorman makes it special. Tailgating all day and being at O’Gorman with your fans in the crowd, cheering you on.”

Alex Carlson, OG Senior says, “It’s kind of a dream come true almost. You’re always dreaming of this reality as a little kid and finally you’re actually doing it.”

Dawson Bauer, OG Senior says, “My brothers, they played in it. So I got to watch them going to the kids camp. That hype the entire week of school, you’re just waiting for the Dakota Bow. And now that we’re going to be playing in it you just get to have that opportunity and get to go run with it and be in that big game.”

Joshua Woelfel, OG Senior says, “I think the environment we get to play in, it’s a big game with a lot of fans. The crowd is big and there’s a lot of energy there is just through the roof. So yes it gets me going and I’m looking at a lot of fun on Saturday.”

They are hoping for the same outcome as last year with another dramatic win. Kickoff is 7:30 Saturday night against the Harrisburg Tigers.
