In 1523, he succeeded to the Mori family's governorship based in Yoshidasho, Aki Province, and became the lord of Yoshida Koriyama Castle. Later, he defeated Amago Yoshihisa, Sue Harukata, and Ouchi Yoshinaga to become a feudal lord with ten provinces in the Chugoku region.
