CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Jose Ramirez wanted to have a better showing than he did in 2022 in Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby.

He did.

The Guardians slugger tied for the most home runs in the opening round, 21, which earned him a trip to the event’s semi-finals. There, he had a head-to-head match up with Kansas City’s Bobby Witt, Jr.

Witt would win that round 17-12 to eliminate Ramirez.

Witt would go on to lose to Teoscar Hernandez of the Dodgers in the finals 14-13.

Ramirez will continue to represent Cleveland in the All-Star Game on Tuesday night.
