Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Staying in Orlando
Isaac and the Magic agreed to a five-year, $84 million contract renegotiation and extension Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Isaac has spent the first five years of his career in Orlando and is now set to spend another five with the franchise. In 2023-24, the 26-year-old forward averaged 6.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 15.8 minutes across 58 regular-season appearances. While availability has always been an issue for Isaac, he is one of the NBA's best and most versatile defenders when on the floor.

Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Won't start Game 7
Isaac won't start Sunday's Game 7 against the Cavaliers, Philip Rossman-Reich of OrlandoMagicDaily.com reports.
With Gary Harris (hamstring) returning to the starting lineup after missing Game 6, Isaac will revert to a reserve role. Across three appearances off the bench during the opening-round series, Isaac has averaged 9.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 19.3 minutes per game.

Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Will start Game 6
Isaac will start Friday's Game 6 against the Cavaliers, Cody Taylor of USA Today reports.
Isaac started the first two games of the opening-round series at center but returned to the bench with Orlando facing an 0-2 hole. He'll move back into the starting lineup Friday in place of Gary Harris (hamstring). Isaac has averaged 8.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.0 steals in 21.4 minutes over the first five games of the series.

Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Strong outing off bench
Isaac finished with 14 points (5-7 FG, 4-6 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 20 minutes during Saturday's 112-89 victory over Cleveland in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Isaac delivered his best outing of the postseason, and Wendell Carter played well as a starter, so it's safe to assume both players will stick in their current roles after swapping places to start the postseason. Across four postseason games against Cleveland, Isaac has averaged 8.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.3 steals in 21.3 minutes.

Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Won't start Game 3
Isaac is not in the starting lineup to face the Cavaliers on Thursday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.
Isaac started the first two games of the series, averaging 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds across 24.5 minutes per contest, but he'll head back to the bench for Game 3. Wendell Carter will get the nod in the frontcourt alongside Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.

Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Limited impact in spot start
Isaac had 10 points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist, three blocks and three steals in 29 minutes during Saturday's 97-83 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
This was Isaac's second start of the season, and while he posted better numbers than Wendell Carter, Isaac had a rough outing from the field while dealing with the defensive presence of Jarrett Allen. Given how outmatched Carter looked in limited minutes, Isaac could remain in the starting unit for Game 2 of the series Monday.

Isaac will start at center in Saturday's Game 1 matchup with the Cavaliers.
The Magic will start the season the same way they ended it, as Isaac has replaced Wendell Carter in the starting lineup. The latter was nursing back pain towards the end of the regular season, so it remains unclear if this is simply injury-related or a concerted decision on Orlando's part to keep Isaac in the starting lineup going forward. The 26-year-old averaged 6.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.5 blocks across 17.0 minutes in two starts this season.
