MORE than 2,000 real Christmas trees have been recycled over the course of just three days by New Forest District Council.

Residents can continue to take their real trees to one of the 11 drop off locations across the New Forest until January 14.

People are urged to put their trees as far down as the bay as possible.

New Forest District Council said: “We're recycling the trees by chipping them to create mulch. The mulch will be used locally to help keep moisture around plant roots, and to prevent weeds from growing.”

Drop-off locations include Brookley Road car park in Brockenhurst, Burley coach park, the A338 slip road car park in Fordingbridge, Bath Road car park in Lymington, Hurst Road East Overflow car park in Milford on Sea, Lyndhurst village centre car park, Crossmead Avenue car park in New Milton and Furlong long stay car park in Ringwood.

New Forest District Council said residents should only drop off their trees at the locations above as otherwise it will be treated as fly-tipping.
