萬事達行旅Wonstar Hotel is located in the Wanhua District, a 5-minute walk from Ximen Subway Station. It offers modern accommodation with free internet.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Wonstar Hotel (Ximending) during my 3 nights December stay and couldn’t be more impressed with my experience. It was a rainy day in Taipei the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming and attentive, guiding on check-in effortless. The first impression when stepped in Wonstar hotel itself was sleek clean and a modern decoration. My single hotel room was spotless and neat. I particularly appreciated the housekeeping aunty who was friendly and courteous when I asked her for the time she will come in for housekeeping the following day. The distance walking to Ximending was a stone throw away, crossing a traffic with lots of local eateries from day to night time. I took the public bus of 45mins journey located opposite the hotel to Jiufen. Foot and body massage salon is just a minute walking distance from hotel. MRT Ximending station was just 3mins walk from hotel. I had absolute no trouble getting around, the area was safe and enjoyable to explore. On the day I left, Ms Theresa, the hotel staff helped me with guiding the Uber drive to the right location to pick me up. My overall stay at Wonstar Hotel (Ximending at Wanhua district) was fantastic and highly recommend it to anyone who are visiting Taipei. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! Thank you to the team at Wonstar Hotel for making my stay so memorable.

The room is spacious. The bathroom is well designed. There is a shower and free-standing bath and a separate toilet. The bath was quite big and comfortable. In our room there were two tables and three chairs which made it very easy to store things and sit down. There is coin self-service laundry at the property. The location is about 7 min walk from the station.

The Undiscovered Asian Capital

Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.

At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.

Of the wealth of Taipei museums, the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed ‘Road to Heaven’ for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.

Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.

    Lots of good things to see and do in and around Taipei.

    Lots of good things to see and do in and around Taipei. The 5 day fun pass on the MRT/Buses was an excellent investment as was the three day pass on the high speed rail. Both made it really easy and convenient to move about and were excellent value for money. We really enjoyed the trip to Keelung, the Keelung is a hidden gem and well worth a trip. The area, vista and vibe around the Chiang Kai Shek memorial hall and national theatre were excellent. All in all, lots of good things to do in Taipei and as destination it's really good value for money.

    Worth your time!

    Worth your time! Going during the holidays is a bit busy, I want to go back not during a holiday so I can fully enjoy Taipei without all the crowds. There are many day trips that you can do too just outside the city.

Taipei is truly a well-planned city, with infrastructure thoughtfully designed to accommodate people of all ages and abilities.

    So much to do, especially if you rent a car for some day...

    So much to do, especially if you rent a car for some day trips as there is an extraordinary amount of things to do in the area surrounding Taipei. Taiwan is like a cheaper version of Japan; public transport is easy to navigate and very inexpensive, and the street food is incredibly cheap and delicious; there are night markets in every suburb.

    Liked most - HeHuan Shan.

    Liked most - HeHuan Shan. The sunrise was fantastic and magical. Weather was excellent at a very nice temperature of 2 degrees in the early morning. Yangmingshan - hot springs, Qing Tian Gang. Night markets in every city, especially Rao He night market in Taipei.
