ArcEditor is the midlevel software suite designed for advanced editing of spatial data published in the proprietary Esri format. It is part of the ArcGIS product. It provides tools for the creation of map and spatial data used in Geospatial Information Systems.

ArcEditor—Includes advanced editing capabilities for shapefiles and geodatabases in addition to the full functionality of ArcView. ArcInfo —Is the flagship ArcGIS Desktop product. It builds on the functionality of ArcEditor with advanced geoprocessing.

ArcReader is a free, downloadable, easy-to-use application for viewing, exploring, and printing published map fi les (PMF). ArcView adds comprehensive mapping and analysis tools along with simple editing and geoprocessing tools. ArcEditor includes the full functionality of ArcView plus advanced editing capabilities for geodatabases.

ArcGIS Desktop is available as ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo. Both the Concurrent Use versions and the Single Use versions are included in this media kit, which contains everything you need to install and use ArcGIS Desktop on various computers on a network.

ArcEditor includes all the functionality of ArcView and adds the power to create and edit data in a geodatabase. Additional functionality includes support for multiuser editing, versioning, feature-linked annotation, and advanced topologic editing. ArcInfo is the complete GIS data creation, update, query, mapping, and analysis system.

The ArcGIS Desktop products consist of ArcReader, ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo. These products are built on a common architecture with the same user interface. This brochure explains which features are shared and which differ between the products.

ArcGIS allows you to create and edit several kinds of data. You can edit feature data stored in shapefiles and geodatabases, as well as various tabular formats. This includes points, lines, polygons, text (annotations and dimensions), multipatches, and multipoints.
