Pedestrian, 73, dies after being struck by car

A 73-year-old pedestrian hit by a car in the Isle of Man's capital on Saturday died following the incident, police have confirmed.

Henry Fong was struck by the vehicle, which was being driven by a 37-year-old male, on Broadway at about 20:00 GMT.

The road was closed between its junctions with Harris Promenade and Derby Road for several hours while a collision investigation took place.

The Isle of Man Constabulary has appealed for witnesses who were in the area at the time or with dash cam footage to get in touch.

Those with CCTV or doorbell cameras overlooking the road have also been urged to contact the police.

In a statement police said: "We regretfully confirm that Henry Fong, aged 73 years, has sadly passed away following that collision.

"We would like to pass on our condolences to the family and friends of Mr Fong.

Police said his family was being supported by specialist officers.
