Arlo's speedy snap of slow worm earns him award
A 10-year-old boy from Cornwall has won a national wildlife photography competition.
Arlo from Grampound Road won the Under-12 mobile category of this year's RSPCA Young Photographer Awards with his photo of a slow worm on rocks at Polly Joke beach in Newquay.
The young photographer said: "It was a challenge taking the photo because the slow worm was slinking so quickly towards the beach."
The award winners were announced at a ceremony held at the Tower of London on Thursday.
Curious about nature
Arlo said: "I feel quite privileged. I wasn't expecting it!"
"I'm curious about the natural world and if something takes my interest, I'll take a photo of it," he said.
The judging panel was made up of wildlife photography experts including Rachel Bigsby, Ellie Rothnie, Andrew Forsyth and Emma Jacobs.
Winners in each category were awarded trophies and a selection of prizes at the ceremony in London.
