The cast and crew of the BBC TV children's series, Malory Towers, have been back filming in Devon and Cornwall.

The 13-part drama series was inspired by the series of 12 children's books written by Enid Blyton about life at an all-girls boarding school in the 1940s.

Hartland Abbey, in north Devon, has been used as the boarding school throughout the six series with street scenes filmed in Bodmin and beach scenes at the natural sea pool in Trevone, near Padstow.

There have been 36 days of filming during June and July at the historic abbey, which owner Lady Angela Stucley said was "fantastic" for local businesses.

She said: "It's fantastic for the local economy in the Hartland area, especially for the accommodation providers because it is a quiet time of year."

Ella Bright and Danya Griver, who play protagonist Darrell Rivers and her arch-enemy Gwendoline Mary Lacey respectively, have starred in the series since they were 12 years old.

Now 17 years old, Ms Griver, said: "It's been amazing, definitely a life-changing experience, for sure."
