A search is underway for a third man involved in the incident

Police are searching for the driver of a car that was driven through a park during a police chase.

The car, suspected of being stolen and used in a crime, was driven into busy Pitville Park, in Cheltenham, at about 15:00 BST on bank holiday Monday.

Police had attempted to pull the car over, but after it failed to stop, officers from the roads policing unit began to pursue the car, aborting the chase after it was driven into the park.

The car was abandoned and officers chased three men on foot, with two men arrested - both of whom were later released without charge. The third man is still being sought.

The vehicle was seized and police are looking for the driver, after he ran in the direction of Wellington Square park.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said: "Investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has footage of the incident as the park was busy at the time.

"Police are also keen to hear from anyone who lives in the areas of Wellington Square, Clarington Mews, West Drive or Wellesley Road, as they may have CCTV footage of those involved running away."
