A man has been charged with raping a young teenager in a nature area.

The girl, aged between 13 and 15, reported on Friday that she had been attacked by a man she did not know in the Deadwater Valley area of Bordon, Hampshire.

Police said Oliver Smith, 21, of South Hurst, Bordon, had been charged with rape, attempted rape, two offences of false imprisonment, kidnap with intent, making threats with a blade and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

He has been remanded to appear before Portsmouth magistrates on Wednesday.

A 17-year-old boy from Bordon, who was initially arrested on suspicion of rape and possessing an offensive weapon, has been released without charge.

Officers said there would be an increased police presence in the area while inquiries continue.
