Historia
Patricia Campbell's life has never felt smaller. Her ambitious husband is too busy to give her a goodbye kiss in the morning, her kids have their own lives, her senile mother-in-law needs constant care, and she's always a step behind on thank-you notes and her endless list of chores. The one thing she has to look forward to is her book club, a close-knit group of Charleston women united by their love of true crime and paperback fiction. At these meetings they're as likely to talk about the Manson family as they are marriage, motherhood, and neighborhood gossip.

I think we can all agree here that the real villains of this story were the husbands.

Imagine two worlds at war. In one, citizens with jetpacks and ray guns have colonized Venus. In the other, magic reigns supreme, and history turns on swords and spells. Now imagine they have just discovered a third world. Our world. Our timeline of rideshare apps and strip malls is about to become the newest battlefield in the long war between science fiction and fantasy.

Audio balance was horrific
Revisado: 07-19-21
I had a hard time getting into this story because I couldn't understand half of what was said. I was constantly turning the volume up and down and rewinding. Once I got accustomed it was easier to understand, but still frustrating to be constantly fiddling with the dial. The actors were great, the story was great, but it was a force of will to get through it. I was either straining to hear or suddenly being blasted away. Very frustrating.

I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

The narration was fantastic! It made me laugh out loud on several occasions but it was surprisingly sweet too. I just adored it!

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Worth the read
Revisado: 03-06-15
It took about 7 hours before it got really interesting! Decent mystery... Hated the main character (which I'm sure was the point) for most of the book. For me though, if I don't like the main character I have a hard time getting into the book.

Historia
Performance artists Caleb and Camille Fang dedicated themselves to making great art. But when an artist's work lies in subverting normality, it can be difficult to raise well-adjusted children. Just ask Buster and Annie Fang. For as long as they can remember, they starred (unwillingly) in their parents' madcap pieces. But now that they are grown up, the chaos of their childhood has made it difficult to cope with life outside the fishbowl of their parents' strange world.

Got about halfway through and quit...
Revisado: 05-27-12
And that's a big deal for me. I usually can get into any story. I think that the difficulty that I had with this book was that the characters were all so completely unbelievable. They could only be made up people to me. Not to mention the story itself was so sad that I found myself getting depressed. It just was not the book for me.

Historia
In July 1890, Vincent van Gogh went into a cornfield and shot himself. Or did he? Why would an artist at the height of his creative powers attempt to take his life... and then walk a mile to a doctor's house for help? Who was the crooked little "color man" Vincent had claimed was stalking him across France? And why had the painter recently become deathly afraid of a certain shade of blue? These are just a few of the questions confronting Vincent's friends who vow to discover the truth of van Gogh's untimely death.

Christopher Moore does it again!
Revisado: 05-27-12
This was a wonderful book, and a very fresh, unique story. The narrator was perfection. The story moved at a great pace and it was impossible to get bored with all of the back and forth between Juliette and the male characters.
I was disappointed in the ending. I can't explain why without giving away the story but suffice it to say that even though I was disappointed, it is probably a more accurate depiction of humanity than I care to admit.

Revisado: 05-27-12
I really loved that even though it was a fantasy book, all of the characters were so real. I just know that there are people like this out there. I'm sure we've all met our share of Jessica's especially...
And Richard was such a good and imperfect person. He was heroic in ways people don't normally think about. He cried, and was scared and he still did what he knew was right. That is very heroic to me.
I couldn't put this book down. There was so much happening and it was so well told, and wonderfully performed. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Not his best book...
Revisado: 05-23-12
I was disappointed in this book, and I have not gone on to continue the series, although I may still do so at some point. Christopher Moore is one of my favorite authors and I find him to be a very intelligent and thoughtful writer. I appreciate that his books are filled with the ridiculous and yet still make me think an awful lot about what I've read and what he is 'really' trying to say.
This book to me was filled with unnecessary crudeness and the plot was flimsy. There was a definite point A to point B feel and that frustrated me. I think I'm not describing it very well, but what I'm trying to say is that this book completely lacked the depth of his other stories. It was like he was trying to jump on the Vampire bandwagon or something (although tbh I'm not sure how much of a Vampire bandwagon there was in 1995).
Anyway. This will not stop me from reading his other books, even if it did stop me from finishing the rest of this series.

Very Calming
Revisado: 05-23-12
I found this title to be very useful for decreasing my anxiety and helping me sleep at night. I know for a lot of these type of programs they say sit up straight and have your feel flat on the floor but I was really looking for a way to calm and clear my mind before bed. The imagery of the tree was well set forth so that I really did feel connected with the tree and the Earth. It helped me push aside the extra 'junk' from the day and wind down and have a good night's sleep.
