Solid Sanford Work
Revisado: 05-01-23
All of the negative reviews gave me pause before my purchase, but having consumed all of Sandford’s other works I moved ahead. Good-not-fabulous thriller that kept me engaged. I certainly don’t understand all the shade being cast on the narrator whose crime, as near as I can tell, is that he’s not Richard Ferrone. It was worth the credit in my view.

Goldilocks Would Love It!
Revisado: 03-09-22
Remember when Goldilocks was doing B&E on the Bears’ house looking for “not too ____”? She would have found it with this series - I certainly did. It pushes the “cozy” button without being too soft and syrupy, the characters are believable, the mystery in each book blends well with the overall series story arc (rather than serving as backdrop, which seems way too common these days). The thinly veiled reference to the Biltmore Estate is a really nice touch and handled well. Was sorry to see an ending, but even that was skillfully done. The dialogue could have been a touch more in tune with the area of the country, but I’m really reaching when I’m ticking that off as a “could be better”. Awesome series, and will be exploring more of this author’s work.

This baffling, twisted tale tests Alex and Milo to their intellectual and emotional limits.

Another winner!
Revisado: 04-05-18
Kellerman's ability to describe characters, surroundings, and situations is unequaled, in my opinion it's as much fine craftsmanship as the guitars his character Robin creates in her studio. John Rubenstein's narration is not only outstanding, but after all this time, it's flat necessary. This production, as the others before, makes me healthier. I'm on the elliptical at the gym more frequently and I'm taking more walks. I blazed through it in days and now have to content myself with other authors' works until the next release, when the cycle will repeat.

Kay is the Agent to the Paws, representing showbiz clients who aren't exactly people. In fact: they're dogs. Bruno's humans, Trent and Louise, are pains in the you-know-what, and Les McMaster, the famous director mounting a revival of Annie, might not hire Bruno just because he can't stand them.

This was fun!
Revisado: 04-05-18
Perfect light listen to help me forget I'm exercising. Had not seen/heard any of this author's work before, glad that Audible nudged me here. The family reminded me just a bit of Lisa Lutz's wacky Spellman family (which was a plus). And it's about dogs, so that makes it pretty darn fine out of the gate. I enjoyed. I want more. Yeah, the narrator kinda blew it on the Eydie pronunciation, and I'm unfortunately old enough to notice, but beyond that, she was great for the characters. Going to explore more of this author whilst waiting for the next in this series.

In the small village of Kilbane, County Cork, Ireland, Natalie's Bistro has always been warm and welcoming. Nowadays twenty-two-year-old Siobhan O'Sullivan runs the family bistro named for her mother, along with her five siblings, after the death of their parents in a car crash almost a year ago. It's been a rough year for the O'Sullivans, but it's about to get rougher.

Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 11-16-17
I ended up with this book from Audible recommendations based on my previous blah-blah-blah, a path I seldom take. This was a remarkably good first effort. I dinged the story one star just because of a few instances where it felt more like she was trying to make a word target, but maybe that's a tad nitpicky on my part. The narration was outstanding. I've been yearning for good Irish mysteries since the days of the much-missed Andrew Greeley, and I'm looking forward to more of the O'Sullivan Six.

Lawyer Andy Carpenter's true passion is the Tara Foundation, the dog rescue organization he runs with his friend Willie Miller. All kinds of dogs make their way to the foundation, and it isn't that surprising to find a dog abandoned at the shelter one morning, though it was accompanied by a mysterious anonymous note. But they are quite surprised when they scan the dog's embedded chip, and discover that they know this dog. He is the "DNA dog".

Historia
As a detective lieutenant with the LAPD, Peter Decker witnessed enough ugliness and chaos for a lifetime. Now, he and his devoted wife, Rina Lazarus, are ready to enjoy the quiet beauty of upstate New York, where they can be closer to their four adult children and their foster son. But working for the Greenbury Police department isn't as fulfilling as Decker hoped. While Rina has adapted beautifully to their new surroundings, Decker is underwhelmed and frustrated by his new partner, Tyler McAdams, a former Harvard student and young buck with a bad 'tude.

If You Hate Change, Listen Anyway
Revisado: 04-23-17
Any additional comments?
I waited over two years before giving this a listen. I'm completely unfair to most authors of series novels - I allow them some minute character development and growth book-to-book, but for the most part I like to come back to "familiar" - it's why I've been such a fan of Ms Kellerman's (and her husband's) books over the years. When I saw in the synopsis that Decker had retired to New York and cold and snow (without consulting me!), I couldn't bring myself to spend the credit - until now. Ms Kellerman took a leap, and she did it well. We get a whole cast of newbies along with weaving in some old friends, and she hasn't lost her ability to tell the tale. Now I've got some catching up to do!

Moving On
Revisado: 04-23-17
Any additional comments?
Dear Miss Lily - I'm leaving you. I'm moving on, because you can't seem to do so. The first book left me at "enjoyable, but dang, this woman has issues". Book two left me at "she really needs to let this stuff go". Book three left me completely worn out from sitting through therapy sessions that I'm not getting paid to do, nor do I get the opportunity to interact. It's sad - your author has created some fun and interesting characters who inevitably circle back to telling you to get over yourself, pull yourself up, and get back to your badass self. Which you don't do. And then I get to listen to why. I can appreciate that writing can be therapeutic, even cathartic. That's your own journey. We, the public, burning a credit for a little escapism, would appreciate a little more misadventure and a whole lot less personal angst. My best to you, darlin' - but we're done.

Summary a tad misleading?
Revisado: 02-04-17
Any additional comments?
Struggling with how to review this book. I think it was overall well written (though the protagonists seem to get away with offing bad people with little scrutiny), and the narration was quite good. From the reviews and the summary, though, I was expecting something a little lighter. While I get that there's nothing light at all about child sex trafficking, I had it in my head that the characters were going to banter more, be more playful (or at least playfully caustic), just something more to counteract the seriousness of the plot line. It never happened. Wasn't a bad read/listen, I just personally need more escapism from the evils of the world that the author tackles in her plot line. Ambivalent as to picking up the (presumed) next in the series.

Will Robie escaped his small Gulf Coast hometown of Cantrell, Mississippi, after high school, severing all personal ties, and never looked back. Not once. Not until the unimaginable occurs. Unlike the missions Robie undertook in the service of his country, where his target was clearly defined, digging into his father's case only reveals more questions. Robie is drawn into the hidden underside of Cantrell, where he must face the unexpected and possibly deadly consequences of the long-ago choices made by father and son.

New Narrator - Deal With It!
Revisado: 01-04-16
I was bemused by all the wailing and gnashing of teeth because Ron McClarty wasn't doing the narration this time around. It took a few chapters to adjust, but I was quickly engrossed in the story (last I checked, the author had not changed). I tend to manufacture opportunities for 30 minutes or so of listen-time when I'm really enjoying a book, and I flew through this one. Enjoy!
