SET FOR SET Predicts That Biohacking Will Be One of the Hottest Fitness Trends in 2024

The Story

Tech millionaire Bryan Johnson continues to make the news in the world of fitness, as we all monitor his attempt at reversing the aging process. He has made headlines over his controversial and unrelenting attempt to live forever and is often referred to as a ‘biohacker’.

Fitness experts at SET FOR SET predict that ‘biohacking’ will be one of the hottest trends in 2024, and have shared 10 ways you can ‘biohack’ to help contribute to a longer, healthier life.

The Snapshot

For those inspired by Bryan Johnson's ‘Project Blueprint’, consider these 'biohacks':

  • Ice cold plunge — Cold plunging is an aspect of cold-water therapy or cold-water immersion, which involves immersing your body in cold temperatures. This activity helps to reduce inflammation, improve circulation and enhance recovery after exercise. It has also been shown to boost the immune system, improve sleep quality and help with stress management.
  • Optimize your sleep — Getting around seven to nine hours of sleep will encourage muscle growth and repair, help keep your brain alert and improve your blood sugar levels.
  • Regular saunas — Saunas have cardiovascular health benefits. When exposed to high temperatures, the body works to cool itself down by increasing heart rate, blood flow and cardiac output. This is known to decrease blood pressure.
  • Himalayan salt in water — Electrolyte levels help to balance the amount of water in your body, balance your acid/base (pH) levels and move nutrients into your cells. Mineral-rich Himalayan salt contains lots of electrolytes and is proven to help detox the body, supporting kidney and liver functions.
  • Testosterone Replacement Therapy — Testosterone Replacement Therapy improves energy levels, sex drive, increases bone density, muscle mass, and insulin sensitivity, and generally improves mood.
  • Intermittent fasting — Several changes occur to the body after fasting is completed. These include a decrease in blood insulin levels, an increase in human growth hormone and cellular repair where the body removes waste from its cells.
  • Moderate coffee intake — Low to moderate doses of caffeine (50–300 mg) are proven to cause increased alertness, energy and ability to concentrate. Both regular and decaf coffee also have a protective effect on the liver.
  • Regular blood testing — Blood tests can check levels of blood glucose, calcium, cholesterol, and electrolytes, as well as measure kidney function. These indications help monitor your risk of heart and circulatory diseases and diabetes.
  • Breathwork — With breathwork practice, the body can be trained to automatically control breathing and utilize it as a calming tool during times of stress.
  • Red Light Therapy — This is a popular method used to optimize overall skin health. Red Light Therapy also helps to boost muscle recovery, reduce pain and inflammation, support nervous system health and generally increase energy levels.

The Lesson

So is 'biohacking' right for you? These tips aren't too out there, but Bryan Johnson's 'Project Blueprint' is a whole other world.

"The 46-year-old millionaire spends $2 million a year on his bid to resist the aging process. He eats a strict diet of 2,250 calories per day in a six-hour period. He also exercises for one hour per day, takes 111 supplements daily, has a strict bedtime routine, and has very regular blood transfusions, and daily health tests. Reports say he consumes 80 vitamins and minerals a day and eats 70 pounds of pureed vegetables a month. His skincare regime consists of washing his face with CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser, which retails for $14.99, and microdoses on Accutane, the retinoid medication that treats severe acne, taking two 40mg pills a week," according to a spokesperson from SET FOR SET.

This is extreme, but 'biohacking' doesn't need to be. It's really all about taking your health and wellness to the next level by being informed and engaged in wellness at a near biological level to “hack” your body to live a healthier life and feel your absolute best — both physically and mentally.

While this may sound like too much work, or something reserved for the elite with tons of time on their hands, it’s actually quite easy to incorporate biohacking into your daily routine. In fact, you may already be biohacking without knowing it.
