“My life is really lean,” actor Jeremy Renner told CNN in an interview following his near-fatal January 2023 snowplow accident. “There’s no fat in my life anymore… I don’t have time for that.” Seems as if the Marvel star’s philosophy extends to the realm of real estate, where he appears to be trimming a bit of said “fat.” According to the Wall Street Journal, Renner is listing the six-bedroom Laurel Canyon home he’s owned since 2012 for $12.9 million.

Whoever ends up buying the actor’s place in for a treat. Renner, who plays expert archer Hawkeye in Marvel’s blockbuster Avengers franchise as well as the Disney+ series Hawkeye, has plenty of home design experience; he reportedly flipped 20 homes since taking on the side hustle as an up-and-coming actor.

The California native paid $4 million for the 1960s bungalow and overhauled it with $5.5 million worth of renovations, doubling the home’s square footage and bringing its decor into the 21st century. The Mayor of Kingstown star told WSJ that the house was a bit of a midcentury time capsule, complete with “all the stuff that was kind of cool and high-tech in the ’60s,” like equipment for playing cassettes and records, plus “all these little Star Trek-looking buttons.” Although the actor’s main residence is on Nevada’s Lake Tahoe, he lived at the 9,000-square-foot Laurel Canyon home when spending time with his LA-based daughter, whom he parents along with his ex-wife, model and actor Sonni Pacheco. The SoCal pad served as Renner’s home base during his period of convalescence, as there were no stairs for him to climb.

The abode’s contemporary interiors feature dark-gray polished floors and wood beams along the ceilings. A modern fireplace warms the lounge area, which has an open floor plan. The dual-island kitchen is in sync with the manse’s color palette, sporting cabinets with deep-toned wood and a black leather banquette running along the side of one of the islands.

Retractable doors give the midcentury home a California feel. A full indoor-outdoor bar flows into a covered patio in the backyard, where lounge areas surround a sinuous pool with stone waterfalls. Other amenities include a screening room, a solar panel system that supplies 90% of the dwelling’s power, and a music studio that Renner, who is also a musician and songwriter, added to the residence. He used the studio to write and record music related to his recovery, per WSJ.

The actor told the outlet that he intended for the space to be a forever home—which is why the renovations were so extensive. Eventually though, Renner decided he needed to “move on to other things.”
