Join us in promoting healthier lifestyles for better mental and physical health through our Lifestyle Psychiatry Prevention and Wellness Campaign 2023-2026. Inspired by APA President Dr. Ramaswamy Viswanathan's theme, "Lifestyle for Positive Mental and Physical Health," this effort highlights the critical impact of regular physical activity, nutrition, restorative sleep, avoidance of harmful substances, social connectedness, and stress amelioration practices in improving mental and physical health outcomes.
Our Goal
We aim to raise funds to spread the message that healthy, thoughtful lifestyle choices can help achieve better mental health outcomes for all. For those who live with mental health conditions, these choices are especially important and should be coupled with other necessary treatment modalities such as medication, psychotherapy and social interventions. With medical education, public awareness efforts, and your support, we can build stronger bodies and minds nationwide. Your donation will help power us on our journey towards a mentally healthy nation for all.
Our Commitment
We’re committed to creating a mentally healthy nation for all where we live, learn, work, worship, and play. We will be weaving the importance of healthy lifestyle choices for mental health into our resident trainee and medical student fellowship program and across our key initiatives, to positively impact the lives of all.
The data show us that when an effort is made to live a healthier lifestyle, outcomes for physical and mental health, and life expectancy all improve. Lifestyle interventions should be offered in addition to psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy to help people lead positive, meaningful lives. -Ramaswamy Viswanathan, M.D., Dr.Med.Sc, APA President
