Customer Review

After 5 years of use from my original Vivomove HR, the watch face LEDs finally went out. It was time for a new one. Immediate impression is that the old band is of higher quality than the brand new bands. Slimmer metal buckle and clasp vs bulky plastic. Fortunately, the bands are quick release and it was an easy swap. Not a great sign overall though that a 5 year old band is still better than one that's brand new.

Another gripe is that the watch face is slightly smaller than the original Vivomove HR (40mm vs 42mm I believe). This also translates to shorter bands on the new watches. Garmin would ideally offer two sizes - 38mm and 42mm, instead of one that's in-between.

Final big gripe is that the expected battery life has not improved whatsoever over that 5 year old model. While other new Garmin models offer nearly 2 weeks of battery time, the Vivomove Trend lags way behind at an estimated 5 days.

A small gripe is that I'd expect more customizability of the digital display. Not a huge deal though.

But - at the end of the day, I prefer this style of watch (classic analog function with smart features) and compatibility with my other Garmin devices over any other watch I've ever used. And my last one lasted me over 5 years, while still getting compliments on it regularly. Most often, compliments are along the lines of, "Wow, I assumed that was a designer watch."

It's worth the $250.
