The Second Punic War was certainly one of the most epic clashes to have occurred in Roman history. Two powers, Rome and Carthage, who, at that time, were more or less equally matched.

A few things regarding the Second Punic War have gone down in history. The first was Hannibal's legendary trek from Spain through the Alps as a way to get to Italy and the territory Rome controlled at the time. There, he would menace the Romans for years to come. And then came the legend of the Battle of Cannae. It would be one of the worst military defeats in Roman history that would see tens of thousands of Roman soldiers lose their lives in a single day.

Unfortunately for Carthage, the war would essentially become an example of how to win battles but lose the war. The Romans would not give up. Led by a man who would be known to history as Scipio Africanus, the Romans would finally deal Carthage the final blow, ending the more than fifteen year-long war.

I found this to be a very interesting look at the Second Punic War and Hannibal. I would recommend this book to those interested in Ancient Rome.
