Obviously the Jeffrey McDonald case has had various twists and turns, and only McDonald know for sure if he murdered his family. But to the extent that this book is designed to make an argument that it he did not, it is hardly convincing because it is so poorly organized, lacks cohesion, and a narrative drive. Perhaps reading it on a Kindle format was part of the problem, but oft times it was difficult to determine if I was reading the author's words, a quote from a document, a recitation of what somebody said to somebody else. I thought the use of "Wilderness" in the title was appropriate in that I often felt lost in "wilderness" of the author's disjointed and poorly organized writing. I think there is a compelling story somewhere in the maze that is this book. But, the author gets just enough of it on the page to hold your interest, but the book could have been so much more with an sharper eye to organization and cohesion.
