As a fan of Andy Stanley's writing style and topics, I had high hopes for Enemies of the Heart. I will admit that it was a struggle to continue reading after the first chapter because of it being drug out. Very little Scripture was used and that is what I personally what to see- how Scripture applies to certain areas.

Much of the first half of the book was just lacking. Going through medical terms and symptoms, granted all related to the heart but made no sense as to why this was in there. Until I got almost to the half-way point and then not only did the reading make more sense, but the pace of the book picked up drastically. Again, at this point, I could not pick the book down (or in this case, turn my iPad off).

As only Stanley and a few others can do, bring about, often times in a sarcastic way, the dilemma we face as believers and followers of Christ and the world in which we live. Our flesh has a stronghold on our lives and the actions we follow through with and Stanley brings it back to one thing: our heart.

I would hihgly recommend this book to any Christ-follower. I don't think a non-believer would garner much from this writing but a believer would greatly benefit.
