I decided to post a review after reading the 1 star reviews that showed people didn't read the directions.
Also this unit is no longer in production. So that is something to keep in mind, if you want the latest and greatest.
If your collar doesn't hold a charge just order a new battery. I have gone thru 3 of them in last 7 years. Even though in last 6 years I have only used 1 collar.
I have also replaced the remote battery.
Replacing the battery has fixed all the issues I have ever had and those issues match up to all those on the 1 star reviews except for burning your dog, shocking the dog continuesly, weak tone & vibrate and lastly having shock that is none exesistant than is at extreme level.
I have used the collar continuesly for over 7 years since I had 1 lab that loved to go on a walk about, but couldn't find his way home if there were steaks being cooked on the grill with the wind blowing in his direction, and yet he was great hunting dog. He was also super stubborn. Like to the point of getting to run thru 2 inch trees instead of around them or not breaking off retrieves and finishing them when he would have to cross the lake and swim back for total of 1.5 mile swim
His younger brother, is bull headed and escape artist and once loose wants to explore tell you stop following him then he beats you home. But other wise he's typical bullheaded stubborn lab who loves to bark at neighbors since he grew up on 50 acres with and didn't see people,. Now he has a whole subdivision he watches over in his fenced in yard at top of the mountain.
