This book is about of one of the most famous battles in history, but it goes well beyond it. Before getting to main theme, the autor paints a detailed analysis of both Rome and Carthage, which are important to explain the actions and outcomes of both powers. In similar vein, it details the personality of the major generals involved in the second Punic war, and of the battle that gives its name to the book. Then the chapter about the battle and its consequences are also very well written, always explaining the facts instead of just parroting them. Another point it's that the author is always honest about insufficient or divergent data, and that adds to his crebility. Highly recommended.
