I enjoy reading non-fiction books on leadership, self-improvement, and self discovery. This book was very much in that genre, and I was eager to enjoy one of Ryan Holiday's works, having listened to his Daily Stoic podcast, for some time. In the pages of this book, the author gives both positive and negative examples of ego, and how powerful it can be over the course of our lifetime. I appreciate that the icons that Holiday employs in his book are not only from the ranks of the more popular stoics, but also modern-day examples, like rock stars and current business moguls. The author's approach to writing, with short chapters and simple, concrete lessons in each, make this a very easy book to read and apply to daily life.
