I've ordered five of these hard drives now in varying sizes from 10-18TB. I work in video production so it is essential that I have a hard drive that can handle the absurd amount of data that I throw at it. From my experience over the years of purchasing these hard drives, they work pretty well. I normally don't work directly off of them as they're more for storage, but you could if you wanted to as the speeds are generally pretty good so long as you have the proper cables/setup for it.

So why only two stars? Because out of the five that I've had, two of them met their fate with a floor from a pretty short drop.. So that's on me right? Yes, but usually if you have an incident such as the one I described above, many of them are usually recoverable. These Western Digital hard drives however, are IMPOSSIBLE to work on due to the way these hard drives are designed. I've brought these hard drives into four different data recovery centers and each of them has said that because of the way these WD hard drives are constructed, any data recovery is impossible because as soon as they open the drive, it will be ruined.

So to anyone considering purchasing one of these, I CAUTION you. There can be NO accidents with these hard drives because once the hard drive can't read, that's it. All of your data is gone for good. It's one of if not the worst design flaw of any product I've ever worked with. Because of that, I can't holy recommend these hard drives outright. There needs to be a way for people to recover their data in the event of even a minor accident and Western Digital has made sure with these hard drives, recovery is not an option.
