I downloaded documents from the case. They are in addition to many other facts in Morris' book. For example, he explains why the judge was so biased: a mediocre lawyer with no trial experience but the right political connections was appointed to the lifetime position of federal judge and, due to his ignorance, relied on the prosecutors (and this summary does not include his son-in-law's influence on him).
Over and over throughout this nation what happened to Jeffrey MacDonald happens to others. The stories are available at many websites. I am adding links to these true stories at my website ([...]).
MacDonald did not get a fair trial. Morris provides the proof, over and over.
Joe McGuiness is "absolutely ruthless and beyond morality"--the phrase he used recently to describe the man he deceived into trusting him completely on the promise of a very different book. But when MacDonald was convicted McGuiness decided the way to get published and get rich and famous was by changing the story. Through McGuiness, MacDonald was convicted a second time--in the world of public opinion.
Today McGuiness continues to slander MacDonald as a way to get new sales of his previous semi-fiction, "Fatal Vision." He would whip up the public, if he could, so that if the conviction is overturned and MacDonald set free in some future year, some loco will assassinate him.
Morris' book enthralled me because he included evidence. He did not just tell, he SHOWED. Compare to McGuiness, who distorted facts and misrepresented, and an intelligent reader with critical thinking skills will know.
Read this book and decide: Would you trust our courts if you or someone you care about received this kind of treatment at the hands of our justice system?
