How My Neighbor Stole Christmas Kindle Edition

4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 36,633 ratings

A new winter holiday, enemies-to-lovers romance, from the undeniably funny and always spicy, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Meghan Quinn.

Living in a year around Christmas town has it's drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It's why I like to hibernate away in my cave--I mean house--keeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits.

And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest - which she was determined to win.

Well guess what? Over my cold-hearted body.

There was no way I was going to let her win, not after the history we'd shared.

So despite my promise to myself of never participating in the sickening Christmas season, I entered the competition as well. That's right, I planned on beating Storee at her own game by pretending this grump’s heart grew three sizes this season.

And it was working until feelings between us started heating up.
We pretended to date.
We kissed.
And well, sparks flew from there.

Which led to one explosive night involving Christmas lights, the competition, and a ladder. Don't let me convince you who stole Christmas, I think you need to find out for yourself . . .

Wow wow wow this might have cured my 2 month slump… I’m not always big on seasonal reads. I find them too cheesy, which I get is the point but typically it’s just too cheesy for me. This one though? PHENOMENAL.Meghan exceeded the holiday vibes with the poems at the start of the chapters and the addition of the narrator woven through out. It really added a fun element to the story that sticks with the holiday theme. I did this in audio, so the poems and narrator added an fun layer to the storytelling.“A gentleman can hold the door open for you . . . and slap your fine ass when you beg for it.”Cole and Storee are the typical enemies to lovers in a Christmas town. But their spice? Anything but typical. Candy canes will definitely be looked at…. Differently this season🤭“Being with her. It feels so right, Max. Like she was supposed to be mine all along. All those times we sat on the porch together and talked about mindless things, it’s all led to this point.”Highly recommend to help get you into the holiday spirit. If you have audible, the voices of the narrators are so good and worth a listen!🎄 enemies to lovers🎅🏼 fake dating🎄 slow burn🎅🏼 small town🎄 Christmas vibes

    Tropes/what to expect:
    ❄️ Holiday romance
    🎄 Enemies/rivals to lovers
    ❄️ Small town
    🎄 Fake dating
    ❄️ Forced proximity
    🎄 rom–com

This should definitely be on your TBR for the holiday season, it is the perfect book to get you in your feels and into the holiday spirit. Tons of holiday activities, competitions, lots of love and Christmas is everywhere. This book was quite literally the spicy Hallmark version of The Grinch and I loved every single page. I literally ate it up! Meghan did an amazing job incorporating The Grinch into the story. The Dr. Seuss-like openings to every chapter were brilliant, it added so much to the Christmas vibe of the book, and they were hilarious!!

OMGG the banter, the angst, the tension, and the CHEMISTRY!! I can’t even begin to put into words the amazingness of this book, of Cole and Storee. I was laughing my rear off the entire time I read this book. The sassy comebacks by Storee, the sarcastic ribbing of Cole, it was entertaining. It felt real, it felt like I was reading about my husband and I. We love to rib on each other, get on each other's nerves just because. I loved how real the characters felt from the way they portrayed themselves, their emotions, their feelings, and how they handled things thrown at them. The way their relationship developed was natural, enemies/rivals to lovers.

The slow burn with the slow heat which Meghan Quinn always does a fabulous job with, was on fire. There was so much tension between Cole and Storee you could feel it through the pages.

Cole and Storee needed each other after, they helped each other overcome their pasts and traumas and find that Christmas Spirit again. I loved watching the growth and development of both characters. And the side characters of the whole town are amazing.

I highly recommend adding this to your holiday TBR list! How My Neighbor Stole Christmas is honestly the perfect holiday read. It’s a festive, laugh out loud, spicy, sweet, and dreamy romance.

The Candy Cane scene did me IN it was 🥵 (iykyk) 😉

If you’re looking for a festive read with humor, spice, and a sprinkle of Christmas chaos, this is the perfect holiday read for you! 🎅🏻

Set in a year-round Christmas town, this spicy Grinch inspired romcom is packed with snarky banter, lovable characters, and major Hallmark vibes. From the start, Storee (FMC) and her grumpy neighbor Cole (MMC) clash in a rivalry that evolves into a swoony fake-dating scenario sending plenty of sparks flying.

One of the book’s standout features is the unique Christmas-themed poems that open each chapter. Whether they’re naughty, funny, or downright cute, they added a whimsical touch to the story that I absolutely loved. Another delightful surprise? The gorgeous illustrations throughout the paperback - total bonus points for that!

I also listened to the audiobook while reading, and it was fantastic! The narrators did an amazing job of capturing the chemistry between the characters. It brought the story to life in a way that made the already hilarious banter even more enjoyable. Highly recommend pairing the audiobook with the physical book if you can! 🎧

The first half of the book had me hooked with its snappy dialogue and hilarious antics, though I found the pacing a bit slower in the latter half. At times, the story dragged on a bit, but the chemistry between the leads and the spicy scenes (I’m looking at you candy cane scene 👀) kept me turning the pages.

Overall this is a festive, flirty, and fun romance perfect for readers who love their holiday reads with some extra heat! 🎄♥️

I like Meghan Quinn, she does a good job of writing romcoms with spice and good spice mind you- not that calm quiet spice you might get in a typical romcom (which has its place too!). And this book was no different.

She built the characters nicely, you could tell the end from the beginning, but you loved them and wanted it to happen. They had the perfect friction moments and the perfectly crafted tumble in love and lots of spicy moments (one with a candy cane that I'm not soon to forget ... It was ... Well you tell me.) And it had just enough Christmas to be in the mood but not over the top.

At the end of the day it was cute and a good romcom. It wasn't Meghan's best, but it was a nice way to ease myself into the silly world of Christmas and romcoms mashed together (the only kind of romcoms I watch anymore are Christmas ones OR the millennial aged ones bc I grew up on those and have great memories.)

I loved in CO for years and Meghan had me wishing I was in Kringle, I could imagine the small mountain town and where I'd live (might've looked like Vail or Eagle but who's telling).

So if you like the sound of all of that, if you sound like me, go ahead and read it. It'll put you in the Christmas mood, or at least start to.

That said, it wasn't Meghan's best. Which to be fair, she writes a lot, she has a formula that works. And so they all can't be good.

She changed up her formula slightly and took a page out of The Grinch and Twas the Night Before Christmas. I liked the allegory and I liked the switch up in her typical story telling.

I didn't love the narrator to character talk (the break of the fourth wall) It was weird and a little unhinged and lacked the injection of humor she was going for. I didn't mind the rhyme she built throughout but it didn't add value to the overall story. However, she did a good job building it. I can't imagine that was easy.

I also hated the twist at the end. I will not spoil it. But it didn't read well to me. And again, added very little value to the story but also took away from the character development that Quinn had done throughout. I understand it's meant to evoke sympathy but she'd done a great job garnering that from the audience throughout the twist was unnecessary. The outcome would've been the same without it. And if anything it made me angry at the individual who pulled it. So many book on focus on that lack of communication skills, someone keeping something from someone else instead of just asking or explaining. And a lot of it is for the plot, so I can deal. But in this case, it made me sad and mad.

And with that I'm off to read another Meghan Quinn book bc not only did this book put me in the mood for Christmas stories but also for more Meghan Quinn. Be on the lookout for more reviews about ridiculous falling in love stories! I do hope you enjoy How My Neighbor Stole Christmas.

Absolutely loved this book, I was howling with laughter all the way through. The connection between the main characters is so well done and I loved the author's writing style, as well as the addition of the narrator to make it feel more like the various movies of the Grinch we've seen in the past.

It took me a bit to get into this one. The characters drove me a bit crazy, then I started to love them, then others would drive me crazy. It, of course, turned out okay, and love was found, but it was a bit of a battle getting there. The premise was cute, the “battles” were on point with what would be expected of a “Christmas Town” and I liked that the author didn’t “play favorites” with the winners of each competition.
It was a good reminder of The Spirit of Christmas and family and working together. There were some touching moments, moments that had me a little choked up.
