- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2024This is a short, sweet, zero angst holiday romance.
Nina & William are coworkers at a local college & their temporary holiday season employer - Mrs. Calus's Mincemeat Treats. Nina has a huge crush on William but feels like it is totally unrequited. Despite some signals, she's felt like she's received from William she's almost convinced herself that he's more interested in her best friend Claudia. But, when a snowstorm and traffic jam force them to spend the night in their Mincemeat Mobile, Nina has the perfect opportunity to find out if Willam feels anything for her.
This was a pretty cute story, but it felt a little flat for me. Maybe a POV from the MMC would've helped with this, but I'm not totally sure. Side note, there were some pretty funny parts involving the holiday puns that I really enjoyed.

Tropes:
🎄 Friends to Lovers
🎄 Clueless MFC
🎄 Plus size MFC
🎄 Nerdy hot MMC
🎄Stranded overnight
Short novella with a sort of Christmas theme in the background of it. The MFC is clueless, she thinks her best friend is secretly dating the guy she told her she has a crush on. He wasn’t. He liked her, which I thought was pretty obvious, too.
Overall, it was kind of cute, but the story felt more like teenagers than 30-something professors driving the hot dog van turned into whatever it was that looked like a pen1s driving down the road. The spice was so-so, and was a slow burn even for a novella.

This made me laugh and the narrator was so good! I thought it was funny for what it was intended for. It’s also a short read so the story has to develop quickly.
The never have I ever game played made me chuckle. Over all it’s a fun story. Take that with you what you will.
Two professors who clearly listed after one another have their chance to explore their feelings while stuck in traffic in the Wienermobile that they are traveling in. It’s short and to the point. Punn intended.
Would I recommend? Yeah if you don’t mind the quickness of it all.
Would I reread? Yeah probably.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2024It’s short but cute. The foundation is laid down in a slow and somewhat boring fashion. The first half (or so) is based on this (work) they are doing in this minced meat mobile. The action doesn’t start to pick up until the second half. And then of course the typical result of close proximity to one other (and the crushes) ensues. Again with this being a short novella (story) there isn’t much in character development. Just the simple thoughts and actions of Nina and William as the day/night progresses. They both are kind and respectful of each other, even with knowing Claudia gave him a little push.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2024Cute little novella. It was a quick read. Has some humorous parts. It was a little predictable but still entertaining to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2025As far as short holiday novellas it wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. Both characters while educated adults, were in a setting where there was a power dynamic at work that could have caused issues - and the book seemed to be aiming for a semi-realistic world. In addition, both claim to be introverts. I enjoyed their awkwardness & thought it was different. Not often do you see a book where both the main characters are shy. I thought it was well written and appreciated the author not resorting to slang for body parts. Overall, I'd read it again and while I may recommend another book first, I would recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2025This is much more what I was expecting from this collection. It had a good storyline. The characters and situation drew me in quickly. There was plenty of substance and basis for the characters relationship and I loved their personalities. I appreciate the backstory and the events that led to this particular scenario. For me, it was a great story - quick and to the point with believable character development and the perfect amount of spice to cap it off.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2024This one was another odd one in this series that I felt could have been better. Nina has had a crush on William for a long time, as they have been working together as adjunct professors at the university. They're now working together in this weird holiday gig with one of their friends and colleagues. Only Nina is completely convinced that William and Claudia have something going between them. I get being absent-minded professors and having doubt about a man's feelings, but had a hard time with her denial. And then, if Nina and Claudia were such good friends, why weren't they talking about it? I'm still not quite clear on what Nina thought she saw as evidence between the two of them. And if Claudia wanted Nina and William together so badly, why wasn't she playing up to both of them? Honestly, Claudia felt like an unnecessary addition to the story and was offloaded pretty quickly. I think this story would have had better flow without her. I also didn't quite buy super shy Nina suddenly letting loose in quite the way she did, but stranger things have happened. Another one that fell short of its potential, but still an easy read and not a total waste of my time.

4.0 out of 5 stars william & Nina
Una historia muy cortita sin demasiados personajes que estropearan la fluidez de la lectura un vehículo muy peculiar donde suceden cosas interesantes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, cute and steamy!
⭐4.5 I've seen the reviews for this story and I don't know if I'm not objective with Olivia Dade or what, but I always love her stories. I really liked it, it's VERY funny! Nina and William are so cute and the spicy scenes are intense.
Okay, it may need more development but overall we have all the information we need, it's well written and it's a good story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny quick read
I listened to this as an audiobook. Nice quick, Christmas read, not particularly memorable. Something easy and christmasy if you’re feeling so inclined. Happy reading!
