Booked for the Holidays Audible Audiobook – Original recording
Brighten the holidays with this funny, heartfelt rom-com about the stories—and the love—that we never forget.
When mystery author D. B. Ziegler is late delivering her book, Abi Schore steps in to help. Surely she can give her favorite author moral support over the holiday break and get the manuscript to her boss at Tea & Sympathy Publishing in time for the new year.
When Abi shows up on Ms. Ziegler’s doorstep bearing holiday treats, she’s met by the author’s handsome grandson Dov, who reveals a startling plot twist. His grandmother isn’t able to finish the book and Dov promised he’d complete it so fans won’t be disappointed—a task that’s harder than he ever imagined.
As Hanukkah unfolds, Abi and Dov cozy up in his grandmother’s brownstone apartment working their way through his writer’s block and untangling plot threads. Before long, the novel starts taking shape ... and so does their simmering attraction. Will their own story end once the book is written, or is this just the first chapter?

- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2024This was such a cute and funny holiday rom/com! Really enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2024Everything I love in a holiday romance. Forced proximity, a little holiday magic pulling them together, and an arbitrary deadline to meet or the holiday season is ruined! This is really cute, and I get why things were set out the way they were for moving the story along.
However, I think it could just as easily have worked if *spoiler* his grandmother's death were not kept a secret. They could have gotten with her agent, put it in a contract that she wanted her grandson to wrap up her series, and I feel like based on how successful she's purported to be, the publisher would have gone along with it no problem. And then they could have grieved in a timely manner. And still had the forced proximity during Hanukkah. But this was really cute and I did enjoy it a lot!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2024This was a cute idea that I think will be especially attractive to authors. Abi is an assistant editor at a major publishing firm who has been sent to the home of a very popular mystery writer to gently prod her into getting the 26th book in her series completed and submitted. It is officially late and the publisher wants it at the end of the holidays. What she finds is Dov, the obvious love interest, who ultimately confesses that his grandmother (the author) has died and that he has promised her that he will finish her last book for her. He is committed and determined, but he also does not really know enough about the series and writing to fulfill his earnest pledge. Fortunately, Abi has all the skills he is missing. If they can just learn to work together to get the book done.
There is nothing actually surprising about the rest of the novel, but it is a sweet developing romance in which neither Dov nor Ami seem to realize they are falling in love until Hanuka is over, the project is done, and it's time to say goodbye.

What a cute, cozy, little “Hallmark-ish” read! Especially love that this was about BOOKS! So cute. Holiday, traditions, romance, grief, dogs, fun banter, snow, & just all around feel-good vibes. ❤️🎄
Also, the ending…with the each person coming to the party with a recipe from each book is so cute!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2024Best-selling author D.B. Ziegler missed her deadline and the Publishing House sent Abi to her house to assist her, so she could get the manuscript turned in after the Holidays. When she shows up, D.B.'s grandson Dov eventually confides the secret he's been keeping for his grandmother. He also lets her know he promised to finish the book for her. After a rocky beginning, Dov and Abi work together to produce the final book in the beloved author's series and fall for each other along the way.
Short and sweet. I liked the Hannakah details. The cast was likable, the story was charming. Incorporating the house, baking traditions, a wayward dog, and a plant-bearing friend helped round out the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2024This was a fun enough story, with the briefest glimpse of romance. I enjoyed the escapism and liked the narrators.
