Mad Love Audible Audiobook – Original recording
"Twisty and totally unpredictable, Mad Love will have thriller fans raving. Brilliantly narrated by the incomparable Julia Whelan along with a full cast, Wendy Walker's dark and electrifying tale comes to life.” Mary Kubica, NYT best-selling author of Local Woman Missing
They were madly in love. The perfect couple.
That was the story everyone in South River believed...until Gin Talcott and Adam Archer are found shot in their bed.
Adam is dead at the scene. Gin is fighting for her life.
Detectives Greta Jessup and Finn Pate are assigned to the case. Greta has a long history with Gin’s first husband, Eddie, and is determined to protect his 18-year-old twins. Piper discovered the bodies. Daniel is missing—and so is Adam’s gun.
Shocking discoveries about Gin and Adam’s marriage quickly shine a bright light on the children—and their aunt Ruth Talcott, who has her own secrets.
The one person who might know the truth is local estate attorney Sarah Branford. Gin left a letter for her two days before the shooting which Sarah now opens:
Dear Sarah, If you’re reading this, there’s a story I need to tell you. It begins and ends with Adam. I will never forgive myself for what I’ve done....
The evidence twists and turns until the shocking truth about the Talcott family—and the killer—is finally revealed.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2024I needed to take a shower at the end of this performance. The character of Adam proved to be as sleazy and manipulative alluded to throughout the performance. The story held my interest throughout, and there were twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Although a relatively short story, don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s a one dimensional piece. It is jampacked within information about how we can be directed to satisfy someone else’s objectives.
Great job by Wendy Walker and the voice actors who brought this little gem to life.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2024Mad Love by Wendy Walker is a really good short story. I thoroughly enjoy when each character has their own voice and how it becomes a production.
Julia Whelan, Alexis Bledel, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Finn Wittrock, Damon Daunno, Elizabeth Evans, and the rest of the cast are all amazing to listen to.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024This kept my attention throughout and I loved the narrators! Great plot, great mystery, all the thrills, so many twists I almost couldn’t keep it straight! I really enjoyed listening to this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2024Time flew by while I was driving 20-hours from Conn to Fla. Great story to keep me guessing while I drove.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2024Wendy Walker is a talented writer. I was excited when I ran across this one on the Audible originals list. It did not disappoint. The characters were well-written. The plot was awesome. The way the story was told and how it all came together was wonderful. I really enjoyed this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2024This is a mystery about who murdered the perfect couple. Obviously, the perfect couple is not going to prove to have quite the heaven-sent relationship that apparently all their friends and neighbors thought they had. I don't think it's spoiling anything to say that there is a bad egg in the carton. I was a little bit surprised by just how much damage the bad egg had done prior to getting murdered, but if you accept the premise of the story, it all makes sense.
Now, I think I have to give a spoiler. The reason that the book didn't work for me is that it depends on a sociopath successfully convincing a decent number of people that they can't live without his love--you know, that thing that sociopaths can't actually give. If it had only been one emotionally damaged woman that had fallen under his spell, I think I could have run with the storyline, but it's much bigger than that and frankly I never understood why even one woman would fall for him. That's a pretty significant weakness in a tale about mad love.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2024This was my first audiobook ‘read’. It will probably be my only audiobook I listen to. I did not like this story and I think it’s because of the voice actors. I literally laughed aloud several times. I think I weight have liked the story if I had read it myself though. It had a great twist to it. At least it was a free audiobook.
