Short, Sweet and heart felt
What a wonderful short story read. Great characters with a lot of funny banter. Cute storyline with lots going on. Just when you think the romance is over, she turns another page. Had me warm and fuzzy after reading. Highly recommend to those that love Hallmark movies and Happily ever after books.

OMG, how I loved this book! For such a short read (only 54 actual pages, it starts on page 3 and ends on page 57) it was filled with both warmth and an insightfulness that I wasn't expecting. And although it is a humorous and absolutely charming little tale, it also had a deeply touching aspect to it since it deals with the impending death of a loved one, in this case Holly's grandmother.

As for the story itself, it's told in the first person by both Holly and John. A couple of accidental meetings and a series of notes left on Holly's car are the gist of this romance which was utterly unique and heartwarming. I literally laughed out loud at times and even cried my eyes out near the end of this unforgettable if all too brief story about fate, life and love.

Other than wishing it were a little longer there's really nothing I didn't like about this book. I also adored Holly and John and thought they were made for each other. It was truly just a heartfelt and emotionally engaging little romance that I won't soon forget. I'm so glad I gave this wonderful novella a chance and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick, witty and feel good read... 😊

Oh how I enjoyed this short, cute read so much. ‘Worst Wingman Ever’ by Abby Jimenez is part of ‘The Improbable Meet-Cute’ series of Amazon Original short stories.

This is book two in the series, where our fmc—Holly—is a hospice nurse caring for her grandmother in her last weeks of life. When on Valentine’s Day, she notices a note on the windshield of her car—which was meant for someone else. The perpetrator “The worst wingman ever” soon realises his mistake and decides to leave a note apologising for the mishap, this then sets off an amusing exchange of back and forth between “the worst wingman ever” and “-H”, the more notes passed the more it brightens their days when they most need it.

I really loved this short story, it wasn’t just about a meet-cute between two people, it also dealt with the grief and loss of a loved one. and it teaches us a lesson of how we should be responsible for our own unhappiness.

    — “Take responsibility for your own unhappiness, Holly. If you don’t love your life, change it.”

Holly was so caring, even though it hurt her to be the one to care for her grandmother at the end of her life, she didn’t want to be dining anything else and I commend her for that.

And John was one of those who also put others before himself—something I understood. He’s thoughtful and he showed that by wanting to make it right by apologising at first, as well as the little nurse bobble head he bought for Holly.

    — “That’s the thing about kindness. You never know how big the ripple is. How one little selfless gesture can make all the difference for the person who receives it.”

The Grandmother was so lovely, I cried through the interactions between her and Holly. She was filled with wisdom that she wanted to pass down to her grandchild before it was too late. And damn, she definitely knew how to make an exist…

The last chapter where Holly and John finally realise who they both are to each other was one of those ‘finally!’ moments. I was rooting for these two from the start!

    — “You can definitely take me out. And I think what I’m looking for is already here.”
