Cute read

Cute read
I enjoyed this installment in the collection and the late 90’s/early 2000’s undercover identity move vibes it brought out. The entire time I had visions of The Princess Diaries crossed with the Lizzy Maguire movie and was all in on the story. The nostalgia brought out made this even better for me, but I also genuinely enjoyed the banter between the characters.

I liked the Easter eggs from each book that were included that tie the series together. This story was fine but kind of left me wanting more. I didn't really like Callum and I don't know why.

Super cute little meeting story. Short and sweet. Very predictable tho and kinda felt rushed. The writing opens me up to want to check out some of her full length books tho!

If you ever watched the Roman Holiday and wanted a different outcome, this story right here is it.

No spice but it’s fine. This story doesn’t need it.

It’s cute, secret identities, and the tension.

Read it or listen to it!

    This whole collection was great!

Would recommend and will reread for sure!

The story was extremely short. My biggest downfall I’d say was the narration. The accents didnt seem consistent under the same character and become kinda frustrating. Cute short about royalty though, I enjoy watching shows about royal families!

Simple, cute, and quick read. It wasn't earth shattering, but it was entertaining. For some reason, I tend to hate the way characters' accents are written into their dialogue. That's just a pet peeve though.

This was a charming, sweet short story about being comfortable with who you are.

What I Loved: Roman Holiday meets A Royal Switch, love at first sight, and a Scottish accent.

The royal princess of a vaguely European nation disguises herself as her assistant, in order to spend two days in Rome, exploring as a commoner. She meets up with a very handsome and charming Scottish photographer, and spends the day exploring the sites.

This is a familiar and always satisfying storyline. I liked knowing that I was going to get the happily ever after, no matter how it came to pass. Definitely an enjoyable and fun Valentine read.

The reader for the audiobook was incredibly talented with accents (her Scottish brogue was on point), I just wish she read a little bit faster. Had to speed up to 1.35 to get the story going.

    3.25 rounded down

Despite referencing characters from other stories in this collection, this story didn’t fit the flow as well. I felt like I’d been dumped into another ongoing storyline, which I suppose makes sense given that this story plays into a whole other universe created in the author’s other books. The confusing world building aside, this story tried to do too much with too little time. It all felt rushed and it was hard to stay invested.

I loved everything about this book from the pacing to the characters. I can completely understand why the princess wanted to get away and escape her day to day that she was used to. I was happy with the way the book ended because I didn't see it turning out that way. This was my first time reading a book by this author and it won't be the last. I thoroughly loved everything about it and the narrators voice fit the story perfectly.

    Three stars.
There were some lovely moments in this and also many others that just seemed contrived and silly. I do have to say though, who doesn't want to meet a good looking stranger that you have an instant and intense connection with and spend a romantic day with them in Rome?

This was a clever use of the film Roman Holiday, not as a copy but as a base and ended up very sweet.
