Drop, Cover, and Hold On: The Improbable Meet-Cute Collection Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars 14,269 ratings

It takes nothing less than a fateful natural disaster to throw two opposites together in a ground-shakingly charming short story by the New York Times bestselling author of Drunk on Love.

This Valentine’s Day, Daisy Murray has her heart set on binge-watching rom-coms. Instead, an earthquake traps her inside a bakery with its impossibly rude and insufferably handsome owner and head baker. They already have a history: she’s always smiled, he’s always scowled. Where better to finally get to know each other than amid the disaster? Then again, they have no choice. Besides, it could have its sweet, undeniable, and unpredictable perks.

Jasmine Guillory’s Drop, Cover, and Hold On is part of The Improbable Meet-Cute, irresistibly romantic stories about finding love when and where you least expect it. They can be read or listened to in one sitting. Let’s make a date of it.

Funny Romance Short - Drop, Cover, and Hold On!
The Improbable Meet Cute Collection of 6 short stories by award winning romance authors was delightful! Each story is set around Valentine’s Day and presents unique charisma and charm. These cute stories make fantastic romance reads!Drop, Cover, and Hold On by Jasmine Guillory was my least favorite of the series but was still cute. It is set in a bakery during an earthquake. The spice was spicey and seemed a little forced.

For a short read it dragged. It had a good idea sort of. Not as good as the others though. And actually, the more away from book 1 the worse these stories get. The characters seemed more like high school students and not actual adults as well.

Read this has part of the Meet-Cute collection and it was my least favorite, the female character had an annoyance about her, and the storyline was cute until it wasn’t anymore. The plot just wasn’t good in my opinion.

This was very boring. It seems like this collection gets worse as I go on. It's just not my cup of tea. I did not enjoy the chemistry with these 2. This is only the 2nd thing I've read from this author. I must say the 1st thing was just ok for me also.

This was one was not one of my favourites. The characters are grumpy vs Sunshine but the story was just slow. It was just not what I was expecting. I wish that I had loved this one as much as the ones in before this one in the collection.

    Three stars.
I don't know why other people have been so unnecessarily harsh about this short story. One review I read said that it was because all the make main character did was glare. So I counted. He glared at her 3 times. She glared at him once. I'm confused what is so offensive about this. I truly hope it isn't because the two main characters are POC. I want to think better of people than that. But the tenuous reasons behind the one and two star ratings make me wonder. Please, for the author's sake and for fairness, read this. It took me 15 minutes to read and why not give that much of your time for a nice solid little read like this?

4.0 out of 5 stars just a little steam
Reviewed in Canada on February 22, 2024
Wow! This one seemed like an interior monologue until the earthquake and then everything was shaken up! More steamy then the others in the series that characters were well rounded and while the reader could get to where it was going, it was super fun to see the main character get there. Loved it! Haven’t read this author before but definitely going to check them out!
