The 6 Habits of Growth Audible Audiobook – Original recording

4.9 4.9 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

The world’s leading high-performance coach and multiple New York Times best-selling author Brendon Burchard delivers the six habits of personal growth that will help you create the life of your dreams.

Those six habits are:

Motivation: Discover the three keys to lasting motivation. Learn how to diagnose and combat burnout. Find out the daily habits that increase motivation—and make them part of your morning routine.

Focus: Assess where you stand with respect to the 10 main areas of life—mental health, physical health, family, friends, finances, mission, spirit, adventure, learning, and growth—and commit to the desired improvements. Leverage the habit formation process. Capture daily insights via journaling and habit tracking.

Confidence: We all face self-doubt. Start to embrace it as a signal to learn—to prepare more, to get better, to ready yourself. Think of it as a catalyst, not an inhibitor. Step into your authenticity to feel more comfortable in social situations.

Energy: Learn revving and renewal practices that will fuel you for the life you want to lead. Drill down on meditation, exercise, diet, and sleep in an entirely new way.

Purpose: Don’t think that you have to have only one. Learn to make purpose smaller. Translate it into purposeful living—the everyday “points of purpose” that present opportunities for meaning and service..

Leadership: Discover how to enlist and persuade others to support your ideas; how to deal with conflict; and how to get everyone around you to perform at their best.

Forged from Brendon Burchard’s personal experiences, data from his GrowthDay app, and his many years as a high-performance coach, The 6 Habits of Growth presents the tools you need to construct the life of your dreams. Full of practical examples and narrated by Brendon Burchard himself, The 6 Habits of Growth is an Audible Original designed to get you unstuck and headed in the right direction.

This has been a year of personal growth and professional development. If you are interested in resources for such topics, then you should grab a copy of The 6 Habits of Growth by Brendon Burchard.

In this audiobook, narrated by the author, Burchard outlines six habits to help you create the life of your dreams:

    Motivation
    Focus
    Confidence
    Energy
    Purpose
    Leadership
In his conversational style, he digs deep into each habit, offering insight and experience. While there is not a lot that is new or groundbreaking in The 6 Habits of Growth, Burchard is encouraging and inspiring in his delivery.

The topic that most spoke to me is the habit of Focus. The author encourages readers to assess where they are in ten main areas of life: mental health, physical health, family, friends, finances, mission, spirit, adventure, learning, and growth. This allows you to focus on who you "could be." This chapter talks about how to plan for greater performance; encourages you to make time to attend to your physical health; and journal so you can reflect.

There is some pitching of Burchard's self-improvement app that is subscription based, but if you read enough of these books, you come to expect it. At least it's not heavy handed.

The 6 Habits of Growth is a helpful tool for your personal growth and professional development tool box.

What a phenomenal book! Full of SO much valuable information. This is the first book I’ve read by Brendon Burchard, and had plans to read more of his works, but after reading this one - it’s a priority! I had no idea this would wind up being the most helpful and valuable personal development book I’ve ever read.
Listening to this on Audible has been a steal! I hope the author will one day put this into print, but whether or not that happens, one thing is for sure - I will be listening again and again and again…

    Who is this for?
This book is for someone who is looking to make a change. It’s a self-help book that’s accessible for folks that have never tried to better themselves as well as people looking to optimize their habits.

As someone who is somewhere in between myself, I think this could benefit a lot of people, especially those looking to level up in their career or goals.

If it’s not the right time for you to level up, that’s absolutely OK. There’s times for living and relaxing and enjoyment, and then there’s times to amp up and bring yourself to the next level. This isn’t a book to read and just put down; it’s a call to action. We don’t always need to push for that. But when it is time, this would be good to check out.

    My Thoughts
I’m going to give my opinion on the 6 chapters, starting with motivation. This was one of my favorite sections. He connects a few ideas together: ambition, expectation, discipline. It feels possible to attain and a great place for us all to start.

The second section, focus, came at me from left field. I thought we were going to talk like Warren Buffett style focus, but this book is NOT that. Instead, Brandon presents 10 areas of our lives, such as physical, mental, and spiritual health, friends and family, and 5 other areas, in which we need to focus. He presents a way to holistically focus on increasing the joy/power/love what-ever-you-want-to-cal-it in your life. Not my favorite section as it felt a bit vague in some actionable ways.

The third section, confidence, should be a book on its own. I work in cybersecurity and imposter syndrome is real. It’s likely real in your line of work to. Am I good enough? Skilled enough? Am I really just a fraud? This section will help you combat negative thoughts and depictions of yourself. Definitely don’t skip this section.

Energy, the 4th chapter, describes the MedRx approach: Meditation, exercise, diet, sleep, relationships, supplements. It’s all pretty actionable, if fairly mundane, stuff. Good to read, but not as riveting as other chapters.

Purpose, the 5 section, is all about your life’s many goals or dreams or aspirations. We can be many things, Brandon claims, and it’s good to know. Purpose is probably what it’s all about at the end of the day.

The final chapter is on leadership. This topic is a must for me. Listening to this section was like whetting my appetite for more. I need to go find some key books to study this. Leadership can change your life. I enjoyed this section quite a bit, but again this needs to be a book on it’s own!

    More Accurate Title
The 6 Habits of Growth, and the 52 sub-steps to get you started.(Just kidding, it’s probably more than 52).

    Audible Version
The author of the book, Brandon Burshard, is the voice of the audible version. This dude is on another energy level. He’s got more energy reading a book than I do playing laser tag.

He’s easy to understand and makes the reading (listening) enjoyable. He raises and lowers his voice, changes the speed he speaks, and does all the things to keep you interested. He also sounds genuine, which is a big win. If you want to make a career helping other folks, you need to bring that piece and I think he does. Also, I was able to listen to this at 2.20x speed, so it took no time at all to finish. I could probably have pushed it to 2.4x too.

I plowed through this audiobook in just two days because within the first few minutes I was hooked. It's very engaging and it definitely sounds more like a great Ted talk or conversation versus being read at which I always appreciate. Highly recommend for everybody looking for ways to improve all aspects of their life!

I really enjoyed this book. It presents great information that makes you think deeper about things, descriptions, about self, etc.
The only con is that it’s only available on Audible. I enjoyed listening to it so much that I want it as a physical book, so that I can highlight points for reference. I highly recommend listening to this one, you won’t be disappointed.

I added this to my Audible library and it is AMAZING. There are so many motivational programs out there - and they never really seem to 'stick' or offer real, concrete plans to actually enhance your live starting TODAY if you're willing to do a few very simple steps as outlined by Brendon. Please listen - you'll be so glad you did!

Will this book change your life? Sure, if you are open to it and are willing to take action

I wouldn't say the information in here is mind blowing but it does force you to take a new perspective on your life and how you set your goals. Would recommend listening to and putting forth an effort with the exercises
