The Menagerie: Menagerie Series, Book 1 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 1,626 ratings

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Wings of Fire series, Tui T. Sutherland, and her sister, Kari H. Sutherland, comes the Menagerie series, perfect for fans of Brandon Mull's Fablehaven series and The Spiderwick Chronicles.

In the small town of Xanadu, Wyoming, lies the Menagerie, a top secret facility filled with unicorns, dragons, phoenixes, and other fairy tale creatures. At least, it was a secret - until six griffin cubs escaped.

If Logan and Zoe don't get the cubs back fast, the entire Menagerie will be shut down. The race is on and the resulting adventure is only the beginning of a thrilling series that will leave listeners wanting a magical menagerie of their very own.

Delighted and Enthralled!
As an adult, I rarely read books intended for teens. However, a friend's daughter recommended the Wings of Fire series and while looking for them, I happened upon "The Menagerie".To say that I was delighted and enthralled is an understatement! This book is one of the most fun reads I have read in quite a while. As a fan of fantasy, it didn't take long to fall in love with the mythical creatures and the characters who are caring for them. Who wouldn't want to have a griffin cub to curl up with or a mammoth like Captain Fuzzbutt romping around their house?Young or old, if you want a book to settle in with and let your imagination soar I highly recommend "The Menagerie". I eagerly anticipate reading the next book in the series too. Tui and Kari Sutherland have an incredible gift for creating a story that is adventurous, clever, and fun.

This is a great series of three books (hopefully more to come). I've read them to my 10 year old son as part of our bedtime routine and he is so disappointed when we stop each evening. I've needed to lock his Kindle lest he read ahead. The story follows a young man named Logan as he adapts to a new school and the loss of his mother. Being the new kid in a rural setting, he tries to make friends but it's hard. Suddenly he is thrust into a world of mythical creatures and finds out things about himself and his mother that turn his life on its ear. This is a book that your kids will love (honestly it's hard for me not to read ahead myself).

This was really cute, sweet story. The writing style and humor would make this an ideal choice for reading aloud, maybe especially with reluctant readers. The action-adventure and tale of budding friendship is well worth a while for those that enjoy shorter magical stories. The story does end with a cliffhanger, leaving several central plot threads dangling.

My 10 yr old son and I absolutely love these books! We read a chapter or 2 every night before bed and they are wonderful. He reads some, I read some. They are well written, and very exciting! We share these with everyone we know who has kids his age. I 100% recommend this series to everyone. Very fast paced, very detailed, not predictable, and I really hope they continue with this series!

My son hated reading until this past December. We finally found a genre he likes and he can’t stop reading! He loves this author and this is the second series of books of hers he has read. The book showed up in great condition and he loves it.

I got this book for my daughter who is deeply in love with The Wings of Fire books. As soon as we realised Tui Sutherland had co-written them with her sister, we got the whole series. And they were read in a very short time with enthusiasm. We'll be looking forward to her new books.

This is, by far, one of the best books I've read. Let's be honest, I had actually bought this book to gift it, but I couldn't stand not reading the book. Just to get the basic plot, I read the 1st chapter. That was enough to hook me. I spent day and night reading this book and let me just say that this is a must read for people who love magical creatures! Griffins, dragons, unicorns, hell hounds, this book has got it all! That and a gripping storyline makes you more curious and eager until you think 'Hey! Problem solved!' And that's when you get gobsmacked by the Sutherlands. Do give this book a try and trust me, you won't regret it!

It sort of reminded me of fablehaven. It was unique in its own right but not just as clenching or moving. If you have time to spare though, give it a read.
