    This book was a very worthwhile read. I'll leave it to the other reviewers to go into more detail. It is well-documented and Dr. Pepper presents a formidable case. On the negative side, I would have liked to see the information presented in a more readable style. It is quite redundant. The information could have been presented in a more understandable way and could have been condensed without detracting from, but actually enhancing the reader's comprehension.

    Having read Pepper's other two books on the MLK assassination, I was a little apprehensive especially after reading one of the other reviews. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Pepper has submitted a substantial amount of new evidence in this book. Although he does rehash many of the facts already disclosed in his other books, he only does so in the context of supporting and augmenting his newly discovered facts about the plot. I would certainly not refer to this information as being extraneous. As an example of information that might be considered extraneous that I found to be profound and thought provoking, Pepper had an excellent discussion of the use of government disinformation. I would like to quote directly from his book some of the testimony given by William Schapp who gave expert testimony on governmental disinformation campaigns used by countries throughout history, "Schapp explained that a Harvard neurologist had helped him to understand the power of the neurological impact upon human cognizance, intelligence functioning, and reasoned decision making when the same story is told over and over again. The impact makes sense when the same story is told repeatedly. That impact makes the story a knee jerk part of the people who are exposed to it. Even if they are convinced on one occasion by powerful evidence to the contrary, the next day will usually find them reverting to the long held belief, which has become a part of themselves--often integral to their very identity. Nothing less than some sort of intense deprogramming experience with ongoing reinforcement is required." Having visited the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis several times, I found that Pepper's book was a fresh dose of deprogramming. As of my last visit to the Museum, there was not one mention of the civil trial in late 1999 (with Pepper representing the King family) in which Loyd Jowers and others, including several govt. entities, were shown to be guilty of the MLK murder (not James Earl Ray). There appeared to be plenty of space in the new "flophouse" addition to post the details of this trial that are essential to a truthful historical record.

    The Plot to Kill King: The Truth Behind the Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. This is an OUTSTANDING book, arguably the best ever compendium of the people, events and documented evidence related to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Do not let the "1 star" reviews confuse you, they have been written for the very purpose of reinforcing the lies and deceit that were planted decades ago to hide the true story of the outrageous plot. The trolls are easily identifiable because they are too cowardly to use their real names and hide behind the most ridiculous and banal monikers, which usually connote the opposite of what the term is meant to describe.

    Dr. William Pepper has courageously--and nearly singlehandedly--completed the investigation that should have been done by the FBI nearly half a century ago. But, as he has amply demonstrated, since that was the organization behind the set-up for MLK's murder and cover-up, the reason for their failure to conduct that inquiry becomes painfully obvious. While Pepper has only hinted at the connection to the White House, to state that the plot to kill King was put in motion by high-level criminals in the FBI, with help from the local Memphis police, the CIA and the leaders of the Dixie Mafia, along with a cover up that repeated the same patterns as the JFK and RFK assassinations, as well the that of the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty in 1967, it is no stretch to complete the circle: That it was all done with either the blessing, the instigation or at least the acquiescence of the POTUS himself: LBJ.

    There are many stunning discoveries that Dr. Pepper has uncovered as well, including the assertion that at least three men within MLK's own circle betrayed him, one of whom is still considered one of the "leaders" of the civil rights "movement." But under my "no spoilers" rule, those names will not be repeated here, let it be sufficient to say that they provided all that the FBI officials who were constructing the elaborate plans needed to know as to the "comings and goings" of MLK to complete their deadly mission.

    This is the most important book available today in Canada.
    Let's put it in Canadian university classrooms and on the desk of every Canadian MP and senator in Ottawa.
    Our government has forces of RCMP and CSIS at hand to research this monumental book to help us decide how to be neighbour to the murderous Deep State located to the south of us.
    It's possible Canada is also under the control of similar organized criminals. Why else would Canada remain silent when this information is available?
    Until I discovered the struggles of Dr. William Pepper to expose the truth about the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I had believed the official reports.

    Why did Rev. Jesse Jackson not sue Dr. Pepper when accused by Dr. William Pepper of setting up Dr. King for the murder by having MLK move to a suite that was an easy target?
    Unbelievable:-Dr. King did not die of a gun-shot wound. No, he survived the shooting; he was dispatched in hospital to ensure he did not return to the streets.
    Unbelievable:- J Edgar Hoover sent a large suitcase of cash to the warden of the jail to pay for the "escape" of James Earl Ray to set up a "patsy" for the murder of MLK.
    All planned to stop MLK from leading a protest sit-in at the White House in Washington DC. designed to stop the war in Vietnam.
    The Deep State military industrial complex wanted to prolong the war for drugs and profit.
    Oh, by the way, I found an error in the book. There is no "Maize" prison in Northern Ireland. The place is called the Maze Prison.

    This book is a must, get your copy, absorb the material, then demand your MP and senator bring this up in the House.

    This rather large book, The Plot to Kill King by former attorney for the King family, Dr William F. Pepper, is a detailed look at the circumstances surrounding the public assassination of famed civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr, which happened on 4th April, 1968, at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. According to author Pepper, the convicted assassin, James Earl Ray, was not the archetypal angry lone (racist) nut but rather the victim of both legal incompetence and a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy involving senior members of the United States political, military and intelligence establishment.

    I wrote that this book is large: the hardback is 728 pages (including the index). However, the actual body of the book is 313 pages; the remainder is taken up with the appendices which include extensive depositions and transcripts of interviews.

    Yet despite that the book contains a vast amount of material (or perhaps because of), it is sorely in need of a thorough (re)editing: spelling mistakes in names abound – including at one point, one of the central “characters, Loyd Jowers – but above that the book is simply chaotically written for the first two thirds. Simply put, it’s all over the place. This is pretty serious given that the evidence put forth is potentially confusing to someone unfamiliar with the case – despite all of the material contained therein, the book doesn’t even contain a map of the key area around the motel and how it is situated compared to Jim’s Grill, the bushes, rooming house and nearby streets.

    A logical way to rearrange the text would have been to build it steadily around the civil case that the King family brought, at author Pepper’s instigation. In this way, evidence could be introduced to the reader, its context and relevance clearly explained. Instead, Pepper jumps us in at the deep end and only the most persistent of readers will make it through to the end. In this way, he has done himself and the extensive research he has undertaken, absolutely no favours. Author Mark Lane wrote an excellent book on the JFK assassination (Plausible Denial) based around a courtroom case where he was the lawyer. This book was superbly well written, easy to read, engrossing and spent careful time with both the evidence and the characters involved. In comparison, The Plot to Kill King comes off as quite inferior and disorganised.

    The final third of the main body of the book really does bring the case together with some neat if repetitive summaries. It also briefly looks at Gerald Posner’s writing on the King murder. If only the first two thirds of the book were written and organised as well.

    I would like to recommend Bill Pepper’s book much more. It’s clear that The Plot to Kill King contains the near totality of decades of research. Perhaps the author was overwhelmed with the volume of material he had amassed and simply wanted to get it all down on the page. If this is the case, then the editor of this book bears some responsibility for the final product. However, when compared to other similarly themed books that take on massive and complex subjects yet manage to present the evidence in a much more compelling way (Mark Lane’s above-mentioned book and also his Rush to Judgement, Anthony Summers’ Kennedy Conspiracy), The Plot to Kill King comes off as the disorganised poor relation.
