The foam inside is hard against the bridge of your knuckles. Couldn't make it through a workout. Had to take a few days off to let my hands and knuckles recover. Had better luck from the loaner gloves at Title Boxing which isn't saying much. Stepped up to a more expensive gel glove from another brand and it was totally worth it. Don't go cheap on the hands, wrists and shoulders. Just not worth it. Maybe after breaking them in they would work. But my new gloves felt great first workout in.

I trained Kickboxing for two years, then made the transition into Muay Thai a year ago. I train hard 2-3 times a week, including sparring, heavy bag and pad rounds. I bought the bundle when I made the transition (16oz gloves, shin guards and headgear) and was pleased with my purchase at first. The gloves were well ventilated, they fit nice, and gave me the proper protection I needed. What I am extremely disappointed in is how fast they wore out. I am a big guy, I train hard and I hit hard. The seam near the thumb in the hand compartment ripped on both pairs of gloves. Material is coming out of them, I get my thumb stuck in the rip and it makes it very uncomfortable to wear now. I wouldn't call these cheap gloves, but I expected them to last longer than they did. I will not be buying Venum gloves (any model) in the future. As a reference, I bought a pair of 14oz Everlast gloves from Target, and although the strap was obnoxious, they held up a lot longer then these Venum gloves did.

These gloves kinda suck...16oz fit huge..can slip them on and off without unvelcroeing the wrist straps. Also the thumb sticks out And occasionally jams a bit when hitting the bag solidly. Rdx gloves are way better

This is the third pair of gloves I've owned. I bought them on sale for under $40, which is a nice price point. Compared to my more expensive Ringside IMFs, these gloves feel bulkier and less comfortable - but at less than half the price, they're a good deal. Mainly, I wanted to reduce wear & tear on my expensive sparring gloves, so I got these as economical heavy bag gloves I could destroy. I've factored the economics of these gloves into my 4 star review.

    The pros:
    1. If you can get these on sale below $40, it's a good value!
    2. They look good and stand out, especially the gold ones, which have a classy muted tone (as pictured) and don't look tacky.
    3. The construction feels (to my surprise) sturdy as hell, I pummel them against the heavy bag and mitts around 4 times a week without a problem. No stitching issues. They feel like they'll last a long time.
    4. My Ringsides are white / red, but the outer layer of paint peels. I don't know how Venum did it, but despite the punishment, the coloring on my gloves has not started to fade or crack. The coating intrinsically feels like it will last. Impressive!
    5. The velcro strap is hefty and elastic, and can be adjusted for tightness quite flexibly for your personal needs.

    The cons:
    1. The padding is hard / solid compared to other gloves I've tried - this can be less forgiving for your hands, and I wouldn't recommend using them for sparring. But if you punch with wraps and proper technique, they are fine.
    2. The hand compartment was quite tight for my fingers, and the thumb compartment is especially small on one of them, which impinges on my thumb and causes mild pain / discomfort. The hand compartment is the smallest and my least favorite of all the gloves I've tried (I've tried Title, EverLast, Ringside, and Venum). This lessened with time, but is still not ideal.

My final verdict is if you're looking for a pair of decent gloves that can withstand heavy damage on bag work, then these are a good value for under $40. If you really want the most comfort, I would look at more expensive gloves and more established brands.

I go fitness kickboxing with my wife (when I'm not training jiu jitsu) and up till now we've been using super-cheap RevGear and Title gloves.

Compared to those, the Venum Challenger fits about 2" further up the arm to give better wrist support, it's a bit stiffer (the 12 oz. RevGears are so soft you can literally open your hand all the way, which might contribute more to injury), the thumb feels more secure, they feel more durable and they sure look a lot cooler!

I got the 16 oz. gloves for the extra padding and better training potential (heavier weight = better workout), plus they're better for sparring.

They felt a little tight around the index finger for me, but they'll certainly be my go-to gloves for my training! I love them!

Blue stains on my white gloves. When I opened my package.

    Pros:
Good padding for bag work or sparring.
Relatively slim profile for a 16 oz glove.
    Good looking graphics.
Elastic hook and loop wrist enclosure.

    Cons:
    Huge (inside and out).
Stitching inside came loose with less than 3 hours of use.

I was pretty stoked to get these as a gift on Christmas as my gloves I bought from my gym have seen better days. However, I had a couple of issues that have caused me to return them. First and foremost, they are sooooooo long. Per the Venum sizing chart, I should be a wearing a 12-14oz glove. I get it. But my gym requires 16 oz gloves for sparring. I'm about 145lbs and 5'6" and when wearing these I felt like I had way too much wiggle room inside the glove. They also extended well beyond my wrist, nullifying the elastic hook and loop enclosure's wrist support. Then after only 3 classes of use, I noticed that internal stitching at the tip of the right glove had started to come loose causing there to be extra liner material bunching up/sliding around at my fingertips.

Alas, I have returned these and will be going with a more tried and true glove like Twins or TKB. Too bad though because the padding is nice on these and I generally like Venum products.
