I installed it as the fill valve on my satellite tank. The valve is as loud as 76 Trombones, and drops almost as much pressure. My satellite tank only serves one instrument, and the pressure needed there is less than the new lower pressure following the installation of of this valve, so the effect on my application is unimportant.
Apparently when it's installed on a compressor they rely on the noise of the machine to mask the noise of the valve. I wonder what the high opening pressure does to the compressor's power consumption? It certainly raises it considerably, the only real question is how much 5%, 10% more? I can't say. If forward pressure drop is important for your need I suggest looking elsewhere. If no reverse leakage is your desired goal, then you have found the right valve for the job.
This item worked perfect to add a different high flow air compressor pump to my compressor. No noise like some people have described. Ran the bleed off hose to the small port.
It's a brass, 1/2 inch inlet and outlet check valve. looks to be well made. (looks almost identical to the one it replaced that was almost 30 years old, and worn out) What else can one say about a checkvalve.
