Report: (Correction) Microsoft Shuts Down AdECN “Hosted System”

SHARE:

CPM Advisors’ CEO Rob Leathern is reporting that it has received a notice from Microsoft’s AdECN that the exchange is being shut down. “February 15, 2010 will be the final day that ads will be served,” reads the email sent to exchange members. View the complete note on CPM Advisors blog.

Update: Leathern has learned that this is apparently different than their RTB system and adds, “Confusing!”

Update 4:40 p.m.: Leathern has corrected his earlier post and said that this is a shutdown of the “hosted product.”

Update 4:45 p.m.: An AdECN spokesperson has told AdExchanger.com that “Microsoft remains committed to online advertising and innovation in the space. AdECN’s Hosted system is a legacy system that is being retired. The Hosted system closure has no effect on our plans and views on advertising exchange overall. At a later date we will share more details of our strategy around exchanges.”
