    A to Z

    comedyromance

This is the A-to-Z story of Andrew and Zelda - a pair that almost wasn’t - and all that happened from the day they met. Andrew has always been a secret romantic … not above crooning to Celine Dion while driving to work, with dreams of finding “the one.” He imagines her to be just like that shimmering beauty he spotted that night in that silver dress at that concert two years ago. Zelda, having grown up with a hippie mom who believed the universe would provide for everything, rebelled into a no-nonsense practical lawyer who prefers the control of online dating. But when a computer glitch sends her a total mismatch, she’s asked to come in for an interview at the Internet dating site where Andrew works, and this is where it all begins. Andrew and Zelda meet for the first time and despite their differences, sparks fly. She thinks it’s chance. He thinks it’s fate. After all, he’s convinced she’s the shimmering girl in the silver dress. Is it true love forever or just a detour in destiny? When Andrew's ex-girlfriend Madeline (guest star Dreama Walker) crashes at Andrew's while she is town, Zelda fears she is secretly after Andrew. Feeling threatened, Zelda decides to set up Madeline with an ex-boyfriend of hers in hopes of distracting her. Adding to her stress, Zelda contemplates a major career move. When Andrew’s (Ben Feldman) father Pete (guest star Dan Lauria) unexpectedly shows up to visit, Zelda (Cristin Milioti) tries to win his affection after Pete tells Andrew he isn’t a fan of hers. Elsewhere, Big Bird (Christina Kirk) implements a new cancellation policy at Wallflower, despite not having Dane’s (guest star Wayne Wilderson) corporate approval. Between the constant distractions of Stu (Henry Zebrowski), Stephie (Lenora Crichlow) and her new boyfriend Joseph (guest star Echo Kellum), Andrew (Ben Feldman) and Zelda (Cristin Milioti) can’t seem to get in any alone time. This causes some friction and Andrew and Stu start to look for separate apartments. Meanwhile, Big Bird (Christina Kirk) recruits Lora (Hong Chau) for some girl talk as they strategize a way to get Dane (guest star Wayne Wilderson) to notice Big Bird. Zelda sets up Stu with a stenographer from her office, Jennifer (guest star SARAH BAKER - The Campaign), who Zelda feels would be perfect for Stu. To Andrew's surprise, everything is going seamlessly with the new couple - except Stephie feels like a fifth wheel. Andrew seeks help from Lora to match Stephie with someone at Wallflower so she doesn't feel left out. Andrew and Zelda try to pick out Christmas gifts for one another with help from their friends. Meanwhile, Big Bird faces a crisis when a customer signs up for a news interview about an unsuccessful matching experience.

Based on the best-selling Nick Hornby novel, written/produced by Jason Katims and directed by Jon Favreau comes a different kind of coming-of-age story. Will Freeman lives a charmed existence as the ultimate man-child. After writing a hit song, he was granted a life of free time, free love and freedom from financial woes. He’s single, unemployed and loving it. So imagine his surprise when Fiona, a needy, single mom and her oddly charming 11-year-old son Marcus move in next door and disrupt his perfect world. To Will (David Walton) and Fiona’s (Minnie Driver) surprise, Shea (guest star Izabela Vidovic) accepts Marcus’ (Benjamin Stockham) proposal to be his girlfriend. Elsewhere, Fiona attempts to be more spontaneous with Chris (guest star Chris Diamantopoulos), while Will chaperones Marcus and Shea’s frozen yogurt date. With high hopes of meeting single women, Will and TJ go out to their favorite watering hole on Valentine’s Day. Meanwhile, Marcus tries to plan the perfect Valentine’s date for Shea, but when things don’t go according to plan, Marcus turns to Chris for his sage advice in Will’s absence. Will starts teaching guitar lessons, but ends up having a fling with a student's mother. With the help of Andy, Will gets music mogul Johnny Idalis to listen to a new song he wrote, however Johnny isn't impressed with the hook. Meanwhile, Marcus grows upset and frustrated with Chris and Fiona's growing relationship and flees to crash with Will, who is left struggling to juggle writing a catchy hook and the complications of his new roommate. When Will learns Andy scored an invite to music mogul Johnny Idalis' son's Bar Mitzah, he sees an opportunity to get his music noticed and forces Andy to make him his plus one. With a push from Shea, Marcus convinces Fiona to let him stay home alone while she is on a date with Chris. During their night out alone, mischievous Shea takes Marcus party crashing while Andy and Will find themselves deep into a lie to impress Johnny.

Detective John Kennex, who has been wounded in action, returns to the force and learns that his new partner is a Synthetic named Dorian. Dorian's programming is very different than that of the normal Synthetic, with a capability to experience emotions making him seem almost human, but John still mistrusts the machine at his side. As the investigation unfolds, biotechnology from the future sheds light on crimes of the past. Meanwhile, Dorian receives his performance evaluation since being reactivated. When Det. Kennex and Dorian investigate the murder of a "chrome," there are no signs of trauma, other than a very small pinprick on the back of his neck. As the investigation unfolds, it’s revealed that the murder suspect is tapping into the DNA of his victims in pursuit of perfection. A deadly crime from the future occurs when a "smart home" goes terribly bad and turns on its occupants. Detective Kennex and Dorian lead the investigation that forces them to interface with a house that is represented by a mysterious hologram character. When Det. Kennex and Dorian investigate the simultaneous and sudden deaths of two genetically-enhanced - or "chrome" - children, a fatal dose of the perfect designer drug appears to be the cause. As the investigation unfolds and a recent drowning victim is mysteriously connected, the case takes an unexpected turn. Meanwhile, Kennex endures painful flashes from the past and pays a visit to the recollectionist. There are consequences and casualties when Danica, an advanced DRN that operates more like a soldier than a cop, is rebuilt and on a rampage. With few clues about her mission, location and innocent lives being lost, Kennex and Dorian look to Nigel, a genius roboticist and DRN creator, in attempt to track her down.
