The following is a list of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college soccer teams that have qualified for the NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament as of the end of the 2024 season, with teams listed by number of appearances. [1] From 1959 through 1971, the NCAA had only one division for soccer, until the Division II tournament was started in 1972, [2] with Division III following in 1974. [3]

At that time, LIU merged Brooklyn's athletic program with the Division II program of the university's Post campus. The merged men's soccer team inherited the history and records of the Brooklyn campus.
  2. Jefferson made all of its appearances as Philadelphia Textile (in full, Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science). The school changed its name to Philadelphia University in 1999, and merged with Thomas Jefferson University, an institution with no athletic program, in 2017. The merged institution adopted the Thomas Jefferson name and inherited the PhilaU athletic program, which now competes as Jefferson.

The NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament, sometimes known as the College Cup, is an American intercollegiate soccer tournament conducted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and determines the Division I men's national champion. The tournament was formally held in 1959, when it was an eight-team tournament. Since then, the tournament has expanded to 48 teams, in which every Division I conference tournament champion is allocated a berth. Among the most successful programs, Saint Louis won 10 titles during dynasty years between 1959 and 1973. Indiana has won 8 titles beginning in 1982, whereas Virginia has won 7 titles beginning in 1989.

The Summit League, or The Summit, is an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic conference with its membership mostly located in the Midwestern United States, from Minnesota in the east, to the Dakotas, Nebraska and Colorado to the West, and Missouri and Oklahoma to the South. Founded as the Association of Mid-Continent Universities in 1982, it rebranded as the Mid-Continent Conference in 1989, then again as the Summit League on June 1, 2007. The LIU Post Pioneers were the athletic teams that represented the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, located in Brookville, New York, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports through the 2018–19 school year. The Pioneers most recently competed as members of the East Coast Conference for most sports; the football team was an affiliate of the Northeast-10 Conference. The Northeast Conference soccer tournament is the conference soccer championship of the NCAA Division I Northeast Conference. In the current format, all eligible teams compete to the single-elimination tournament, with all games being played at the home field of the higher seed. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. The NEC started fielding men's soccer games in 1985 and started a conference tournament in 1989, Fairleigh Dickinson won the inaugural championship.

The tournament field has included 64 teams since 2001. Previous sizes have been 48 teams (1998–2000), 32 teams (1996–97), 24 teams (1994–95), 16 teams (1993), and 12 to 14 teams (1982–92). Division III teams were eligible for participation from 1982–85, and Division II teams were eligible from 1982–87.
