The King's Cup is an international football tournament held in Thailand, organised by the Football Association of Thailand. [1] [2] The winner of the competition is given the royal trophy by the King of Thailand. [3] The host, Thailand, is a participant in every edition. [4] The tournament was founded in 1968, and has been held every year since, with the exception of 1983, 1985, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2020 and 2021. [5] [6] [7]

Contents

In some years, the competition has featured club or invitational teams as well as international sides. Various prominent footballers have participated in this tournament, including Cha Bum-kun, Sunil Chhetri, Peter Schmeichel, Jesper Olsen, Brian Laudrup, Henrik Larsson, Robert Lewandowski, Martin Škrtel, Milan Škriniar, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The King's Cup Sepak Takraw Championship is a sepak takraw team event which is considered to be the most prestigious tournament in the sport as most top national teams compete in this annual event. The King's Cup is dedicated to His Majesty the King of Thailand. Three regus form a team and winning point is achieved once a team has the majority of two regu victories out of the three regus.

The Jaturamitr Samakkee is a traditional secondary school football competition played by the four oldest boys' schools in Thailand: Suankularb Wittayalai School, Debsirin School, Assumption College, and Bangkok Christian College. The Thai League 1, often referred to as T1, is the highest level of the Thai football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Thai League 2. Seasons typically run from August to May, with each team playing 30 games: two against each other team, one home and one away. It is sponsored by Toyota Motor Thailand and therefore officially known as the Hilux Revo Thai League. In the Thai League, most games are played on Saturday and Sunday evenings, occasionally being played on Wednesday and Friday evening fixtures.

Thailand Amateur League, commonly known as the TA, is the fifth level of Thai football organised by Thai League Co., Ltd. It was started in 2017 by an idea from Police General Somyot Poompanmoung, the president of Football Association of Thailand to improve all Thai Amateur clubs to be better and allowing other clubs which are in other regions chances to play in national FA tournament. In 2017, the tournament was divided into 12 regions and participated by 119 clubs which are former members Football Division 3, and debutants in the season. As the tournament is considered as the lowest level of Thai football, so the number of participants is unlimited as well as any club is able to send an application to participate in the tournament. In 2016, the Football Division 3 became a trophy for the Thailand Amateur League.

U-19 Thailand Championship, commonly known as Coke Cup Thailand by title sponsor Coca-Cola, is an annual nationwide youth under-19 association football tournament. It is the largest scale youth amateur sport event in Thailand, even as soccer continues to gain more attention.

Twenty-three ISTAF member countries, mostly from Asia-Oceania, participated in the tournament.

The 2019 King's Cup Sepaktakraw World Championship is the 34th edition of the sepak takraw's premier tournament King's Cup World Championship, organized by the Takraw Association of Thailand and the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF), during August 25 – September 1, 2019, at Fashion Island, Bangkok. Thirty-one ISTAF's member countries with a total of more than 500 players participated in the tournament, which featured both men and women categories. The tournament was live broadcast from August 27 to September 1 on Mono 29, Mono Max, and Mono Plus, the satellite television channels in Thailand.
