The Czech Republic national handball team is the national handball team of the Czech Republic. It was most successful in the mid-1990s, with sixth place at the 1996 European Championship and a win over the later runners-up Croatia at the 1995 World Championship, but the team have failed to qualify for major championships on several occasions since.

Contents

Before the Czech Republic became independent in 1993, the Czechoslovakia national team won five World Championship medals between 1954 and 1967, and qualified for every World Championship between 1954 and 1993. However, the Czech federation were admitted in time to attempt to qualify for the first European Championship in 1994. They were eliminated by another new nation, Slovenia, after losing on the away goals rule. [1]

The 2025 IHF World Men's Handball Championship is the 29th event hosted by the International Handball Federation. It is held in Croatia, Denmark and Norway from 14 January to 2 February 2025. This edition marks the first time the world championship is being held in three countries.

The Croatia national junior handball team is the national under-21/20 handball team of Croatia. Controlled by the Croatian Handball Federation that is an affiliate of the International Handball Federation IHF as well as a member of the European Handball Federation EHF, The team represents Croatia in international matches.

The men's qualification for the Olympic handball tournament occurred between January 2023 and March 2024, assigning quota places to the twelve squads for the Games: the hosts, the world champion, four continental events winners, and six teams from the IHF World Olympic qualifying tournaments, respectively.

The European qualification for the 2025 World Men's Handball Championship was contested in two rounds between November 2023 and May 2024. They joined the six already qualified teams: Croatia and Norway, as co-hosts, Denmark as co-host and title holder, France as defending runner-ups, and Sweden and Germany as the two best ranked teams at 2024 European Men's Handball Championship not already qualified.
