The 2017 Ricoh Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It was the 28th edition of the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships, and part of the 250 Series of the 2017 ATP World Tour, and of the WTA International tournaments of the 2017 WTA Tour. Both the men's and the women's events took place at the Autotron park in Rosmalen, 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, from June 12 through June 18, 2017.

The 2017 Ladies Championship Gstaad was a women's tennis tournament, part of the International category of the 2017 WTA Tour. The 25th edition of the tournament took place on the outdoor clay courts at Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad, Switzerland, from 17-23 July 2017.

Laura Siegemund was the defending champion, but could not defend her title due to a right knee injury.

Johanna Konta was the defending champion, but lost in the fourth round to Venus Williams.

The singles competition of the 2018 Ladies Championship Gstaad tennis tournament was held in Gstaad, Switzerland from 16-22 July 2018. Kiki Bertens was the defending champion, but withdrew before the tournament began.

Bianca Andreescu won her first WTA Tour title, defeating Angelique Kerber in the final, 6–4, 3–6, 6–4. Andreescu became the first wildcard to win the title in the tournament's history and the youngest Indian Wells champion since Serena Williams in 1999. This also marked the second year in a row where a player won the tournament without having won a WTA singles title prior.

Ashleigh Barty won her first Miami Open title, beating Karolína Plíšková 7–6^(7–1), 6–3 in the singles tennis final. As a result of this victory, she entered the top 10 in the WTA Rankings for the first time. Sloane Stephens was the defending champion, but lost in the third round to Tatjana Maria.

Kiki Bertens was the defending champion, but lost in the third round to Maria Sakkari.

Karolína Plíšková was the defending champion, but lost in the second round to Victoria Azarenka.

Aleksandra Krunić was the defending champion, but lost to Kirsten Flipkens in the first round, in a rematch of the previous year's final.

Caroline Wozniacki was the defending champion, but lost in the third round to Aryna Sabalenka in a rematch of the previous year's final.

Garbiñe Muguruza defeated Barbora Krejčíková in the final, 7–6^(8–6), 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis event at the 2021 Dubai Tennis Championships. Muguruza dropped just one set the entire tournament, to Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals.

Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion from when the tournament was last held in 2019, and she successfully defended her title after Bianca Andreescu retired from the final with the scoreline at 6–3, 4–0. Barty won the title after saving a match point in the second round against Kristína Kučová. This was also the first time in Barty's career that she successfully defended a singles title.
